That's a bit harsh. The OP didn't say she was sold an Am or Araucana only to find out that it was an EE. While I realize many many people are fraudulantly sold EE"s marked as Am's or Araucanas, some people get EE"s because they love them. I have 8 EE's that I

. I bought them as EE' eggs, I hatched EE's and if I sell any eggs or chicks from them, they will be sold as EE's. Ohh, and yes, they sure do lay some pretty eggs

Clicky: we need to see that Hen with the black head and goldeny body... I'll bet she's yard candy

No Im with you EEs can be Beautiful and many are stunning. Still, most if not all people are attracted to EEs because of the claim that they lay colored eggs, colored in this case meaning Green or Blue. If there is anything implicit in the name EE it is that it has the blue egg gene. So to get an EE that lays Brown or white is nearly criminal especially considering that the blue egg gene is dominant and so with 2, (count them) 2 generations anyone with a cross to any chicken, can make a breed(or nonbreed) of chickens which will breed true for green eggs until kingdom come.

A white egg laying EE is a sore disappointment.

My 6 easter-eggers were sold by Cackle Hatchery as Aracaunas.
Their eggs varied from olive to a beautiful blue-green. Unfortunately, the 2 with the prettiest eggs were killed by a coon last month.

I did feel ripped off with the brown egg-laying one. But its just like your children........you love them anyhow, despite some disappointment.

Well, maybe. If there was a Leghorn male in the genetic makeup, then it is possible.
But the color of the ear flap is unrelated, as far as I know.

hmm -- I wonder if certain hatchery lines lay certain colors? Like most of MM's EE's lay olive eggs and most of MPC's lay brown and Cackle blue-green??? (these are just hypothetical examples -- I have no idea!)

My EE isn't laying so I'll let you know!
