Anyone else having a problem with shipping eggs this year???

The last time I had eggs shipped to me (the black silkies now in the bator) - I called when I saw they were at the PO (I even had the e-bay seller put my phone # on the box) - I was told I needed to make other arrangements then to come pick them up at the annex. Now, really?? They go from the annex to my deliverer (who takes all day and crams crap in the mail box), there is no other arrangement I can see to make other then calling and picking them up like I thought we were supposed to do?? I am calling the 800# tomorrow to find out exactly how I should send and have eggs shipped to me. It is very aggravating! I lost a whole dozen of assorted silkie eggs in the last month. The seller has agreed to send more, which I thought was super nice. But I want to order some of Bobbie's silkies and have the eggs arrive in good shape.

I shipped some eggs a couple of weeks ago about 250 miles. When I took them to the PO they asked all the usuall questions about insurance, is the package fragil, ect. When I replyed yes the package contAins eggs, the girl simply turned around and tossed it into the shipping container along with everything else. Notice I said TOSSED! The eggs where received and contained 5 broken eggs. I individually wrap each egg in bubble wrap and tape the ends so they cant slide out. I line the inside of the box with bubble wrap and lay a layer of of the plastic grocery bags in the bottom and well as pack it all around the eggs.. I pack the eggs in multiple layers, each layer seperated with bubblewrap and more plastic grocery bags and finish it off wiht more bags on top and then another layer of bubble wrap. These eggs should make it to where they are going without being broken. I shipped 23eggs where I had only been asked for 12, so the reciever got more than they asked for, even with the broken ones, but to ask if the package was fragil and then simply toss it into the mailing crate, its a wonder they got anything at all.

it all depends on the auto systems. i have sent eggs from here in tenn to illinois and all 16 eggs hatched. i sent eggs from here to cal and two were broke and he had a 65 percent hatch, i sent 24 eggs to fla and 6 hatched.

Yes, this is the worst year for selling eggs ever! In 2 years, I had 2 broken eggs. This year, I've had over a dozen! And I wrap very well, each egg wrapped, in cartons, cartons bubble wrapped, and packed in the box so they can't move. I've received a ton of broken eggs, even more scrambled eggs, and some of the seemingly infertile eggs. Very frustrating!

Thats what has been happening to me too! Its been awful. I just hope it gets better!

I've have received 6 shipments of eggs this year, and no matter how nicely packed they are, I've seen a lot of loose and ruptured air cells.

Also, I've had a lot of quitters out of the shipped eggs.
I had to go and hatch a batch of my own eggs just to build my confidence back up.

I think it depends on "where" they sent the eggs??
The eggs from Texas area had "terrible" shape - out of 18 eggs, 14 eggs had broken air cells.
The eggs I got from VA and IN (5 breeders, they were different breeds), I had almost 100% hatch rate.
The eggs I got from westcoast also hatched very well.

Me too! Even the boxes did wonderful and people packed their eggs wonderfully too! For some reason, I got plenty of broken air cells and some of them didnt develop at all. From three orders I had, only ONE chick made it. It was disappointing.
