I had an ACD that I trained to be a "steady" dog, i have bad knees so getting up from the floor or yard can be a little hard.
I got the idea from a dog trainer who taught her large sheltie to do it.. The dog sits or stands but is squared up, and you put your hand on their shoulder blades on their back. YOu teach them to brace as you use them as a
lever/platform to help you get up when on your knees or sitting.
I have trained my Sharpei/lab mix to do this as she is a good sized medium dog.
I fake an injury all the time, especially in winter with my old ACD and she was hilarious.. she would come and sit ON my head.. apparently that was the most important thing..
LOL
