Anyone ever get a Notice of Correction from the Dept of Ag??

Quote:
I guess the shipper of eggs was NPIP cert and they have to report when/where they sell the birds. They got this notification and saw that they were not avian flu cert and sent me the letter.

I just talked to the vet lady and she said that they just started enforcing this in the last few months and I happen to be one of them.

No, I guess it is just a warning. I am now officially forewarned not to do this again. You know all this does is make me not want to buy form NPIP cert flocks!

How can a buyer be made to be a lie detector for a seller who says they are NPIP and provides a number, but aren't? A seller can tell you anything, really, and the buyer is not the one who should have his/her wrist slapped if they are lied to.

So that means that as a buyer who is having eggs shipped from five different sellers next week, I can be called on the carpet if one or more are not NPIP? Nah, that's ridiculous. That is the shipper's problem, not mine. I'm not the NPIP police, good grief.

Well I am not for NPIP but however they DO have their place in certain states that required certain tests to be done on birds, chicks and hatching eggs. Don't let that stop you from getting anymore NPIP stock but just ASK alot of questions and one of those questions you may need to ask is are your flock tested for AI. If not, keep on looking or ask that breeder if they do know of someone that has AI negative flock.

In the state of Washington, there are plenty of NPIP breeders you can buy it from and not have to worry about out of state restrictions and requirements. Support your WA breeders if you can.

Yes that is the problems I've heard about NPIP breeders lying to buyers.....it sucks all around. Glad there aren't very many that would lie about it.

I wondered if the Dept of Ag opened up the paperwork or are they just relying on the NPIP numbers for them to look it up? Honestly I do not know for sure!

Yes, that makes sense!

Me, either, and dont want to be the NPIP police. Not worth it if you ask me. I don't sell alot of birds so I am in a very small minority of 12 birds or less.

We have shipped eggs everywhere in the US and have not been pulled up for interrogation. It's getting ridiculous. I've shipped birds and not ONE ever ask for NPIP papers.
