Anyone ever had your arm numbed for surgery???

You should tell your doctor they are making you sick.

After the Hospital visit and the prescription they gave me didn't work my Doctor came to my house and gave me Morphine based meds, they didn't work on me either. I guess I don't have the transmitters for them.
I ended up taking two T-3's and super duper prescription muscle relaxers. (I also had 6 broken ribs)

I had my leg numbed for knee surgery. Couldn't feel a darn thing for a day. That night though...OMG. Ironically, I still can't feel part of my leg 2 years later. It'll itch like crap and I'll scratch but get no relief.

If you're getting sick off of a codeine based drug, I had alot of luck with Darvocet. Be wary though...."might" want to take some laxatives...

I was good on the Darvocet for about 2 days. Then I started getting feverish and throwing up. Be SURE to keep something close by you...oh wait. You can walk...LOL! Well, in case you stub your toe in the dark, get something near the bed to throw up into should the meds not work out very well.

I was serious about the laxatives...and roughage. Lots of roughage...Be SURE to eat because otherwise you are gonna be in a world of hurt. (Pretty sure that's why I got sick on them. They'd knock me out for 4 hours at a time, just in time for the next dosing.)

After 4 days of pain killers though...I was able to take 2 Aleve every 6 or so hours. It managed the pain and didn't knock my butt out.

I had a block done when I broke my wrist. It is wierd, but I am not sure what is worse. I knew what was going on then, but I did it to myself one time sleeping. I managed to pin my arm between my head and a spring and it was underneath the pillow. I woke up and could not see my arm, could not feel my arm and it would not respond to my brain telling it to move. I was just about to scream when it wore off.

I second that and it isn't a joke. I was taking Dilauded and Darvon both didn't work for the pain but man did it bung me up. Tighter than a knot hole.
Don't know what is worse, second thought, give me the pain.
With the Dilauded I did see small black things run across the floor. Pretty sure nothing was there.

Don't get why people can get hooked on them?

when I take narcotic pain meds, I cry and cry because 'things' look sad.. like the rice on my plate etc. But after C-sections, I'll take the psycho if I get to skip the pain.

I agree, You need to be eating! Lots of small meals/snacks.. Drink ice water, or at least let the ice melt in your mouth.. Stay hydrated and well nourished.. Try taking the meds, about 10 /20 min. after you have eaten something.. Good luck..
