Anyone getting Chukar eggs yet? Dust bath help?

fryeguy, this is my first year raising Chukars but they should lay an egg every 2 days usually. I'd imagine if they had some severe stress from something that could make it get delayed, but my Chukars have been laying now every 2 days, at exactly the same time of day every time, right about 12:30 1:00 PM.

Great, I will keep an eye out. I have a ground pen with branches on the ground for cover. They laid in the tree, and had made another nest in a shallow dug out... I did not disturb either nest, just reached in and grabbed out the eggs... I have had 5 eggs so far and two of them have had a small hole in them... pecked? maybe but not eaten... I know when my chickens find a broken egg, they eat it.... not sure if the breaks I see are just from weak shell hitting a rock or twig on the way out, or them pecking.... I am now checking three times a day for eggs... fingers crossed.....

My Pheasants and Quail have been laying for a mounth now first hatch came off last week.I have eggs comming out my ears.

Occasionally late September (but more often mid October) is when our Chukars begin to lay. 40-50 eggs per hen/per season (yearly) is expected. Some strains will lay more, some will lay less. I would advise against breeding any birds that produce less than 30 eggs/season. This is our experience. We are based in Adelaide South Australia.
