i would say go for it, you could probably put them all under her and she would do fine, it happens all the time in the chicken world, the person i get my eggs from once had around 20 chicks all being raised by 1 hen, none of which she even hatched
And thank you for the broody advice. I'm more nervous with her than I am with the incubator...probably because I don't know what to expect. So far she is loving her two babies and waiting patiently for the 3rd.
I can't wait to hatch under a broody. It just looks so perfectly adorable.
So mom's a silkie? I don't have one, but from what I've read, they will mother darn near everything. So I wouldn't think you would have to worry about her adopting some babies. Good luck if you do it.

Since the first day I had chickens, literally, I have wanted to have babies under one of my hens. It really is so cool to see them just pop out, love momma up and then go back under. Yes, she's a partridge Silkie. My flock wouldn't accept her...she's too pretty, lol...so I made her my house chicken. She is an awesome Mommy so far.
Update on my eight eggs that were incubated from my sweet hen that was killed by a hawk. I waited until day 24 and still no activity. Sadly, we checked all the eggs and nothing but mush (broken yokes & runny)
. I tried several times to candle then with no success, the shells were really dark. It could been because this was my first attempt ever at candling or hatching. I was consistant at turning the eggs and the temp was always 99 so I just don't understand how out of eight eggs none made it. Maybe they weren't fertile?? But we have two roosters! Any guesses what went wrong? Thanks for all the good wishes and support!!
How is he doing? I have been meaning to reply to your PM, just haven't been able to get to my PM box yet with all the chickies
Ma says he's pretty quiet..guess he only liked to crow in your backyard! lol She also says he's a bit too friendly, he has a bigger pen now. She had him in a smaller cage and he looke dlike he might bite, so she gave him more room lol.

Lol well at least he is happy
I woke this morning to my other blue EE roo trying to crow so I'm going to post him as a combo deal with my white and buff EE hen. I'm waking up to too many roos this week!
