Well Chicken Peeps I need some good mojo. Thoughts and prayers to the chicken gods. I don't know what else. Anything you want to send my way through the universe.

I have to move. Need to find a place for me, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 15 chickens. A rather daunting task.

After 12 years together, my relationship is over. I'm not going to go into to details but to say I'm scared shitless for my future is an understatement. How I'm ever going to do it alone I don't know. I've got great family and friends with me but I could use all the positive energy I can get.

Don't mind me if I'm scarce around here. I'm trying to pick up the pieces of my life.

The new girls..... kinda tore up... the one with no tailfeathers we have quarantined alone. We're gonna give her an epsom bath tomorrow and get some blue kote on her.

DH was SUPER PISSED when he went into their *coop* to get them.... There was a thick, soupy layer of chit.... and it was just RANK inside there.... he couldn't breathe.... we got the girls into the car... and he goes YUP... we shoulda got them yesterday!

Hell, we were at TSC today, and DH slung a bag of scratch for this little old lady.... went out to her car and put it in there for her too. Now HE is a man!!!

They have been babied already... we tossed down hand fulls of corn and scratch... they were scared of it at first! When we put the fermented feed down, they tore over to it and gobbled it up! Very happy(er) chickens, that's for sure.

Also, super glad DH got in on it... at first I think he was just humoring me... but when he saw their squalid conditions, he wanted to hurry up and get them OUT of there!

It's just a term! Too much political correctness in the world, IMO. I was born Jewish, like having my gentleman hubby open the door for me and like when a man treats a lady nice, but believe strongly in women's rights and feminism And terms like that don't bother me at all... I am the most politically incorrect person in the world. Life's too short. You gotta laugh at sh*t, laughg at yourself, and move on! JMO.

So, was it this thread that we were talking about the lady bugs? I hope so...

One of DWs friends suggested a peppermint oil tincture to keep them out of the house. I had a squirt bottle about 3/4 full with ACV water, and I have garlic tincture for the birds. So took a 1/4 cup of garlic tincture and mixed in two eye droppers full of peppermint oil, then added to the ACV water. Sprayed all the window and door cracks inside and out. AND IT WORKS! They've quit coming in the house.

Poor Babies! My heart breaks for her. I saw an ad on Craigslist a couple months ago of 2 chickens in a small chit cover crate. Makes me sad and mad. I clean up poop everyday. I cannot imagine it would be good for the chickens to breath that.

I know what are you meaning.

You know when I was a teen and in my 20’s, I could open my own, I could take care of myself. In my 30’-40’s, I want chivalry! I feel our culture is losing it and make an effort to teach that to my son and what it is to be a man. Anyway, back to chickens.

It was sunny and 80 here today and I am probably sunburnt! When dh and I built the previous run we build it on a leverl surface and moved it with the tractor. Well, I am building in place on unlevel ground over a large tree root. It is fun! I mean, real fun! Not!
