Anyone have luck catching a feral chicken?? UPDATE: Rooster caught, no hen

Didn't I read somewhere, about someone who raked up their fall leaves into black garbage bags, and then would add them to their run over the course of the winter?
Lots of people with chickens save bags of leaves. I used to get my neighbors to give me their leaves, too! If you don't have a compost area yet, just think of your biggest chicken run as a compost pit.

Only 2.5 pages to catch up with, wonderful!

It's noon here, and I am FINALLY eating my first meal, 2 sausage patties with 2 fried eggs, a slice of white american cheese and a spoonful of spicy chipotle mayo. Don't you judge me!!!

PIC and I raked leaves and put them into the main run and into the brooder coop run for Xena and the Nuggets. Tomorrow we're gonna put some into the quarantine pit for the Brat Pack.

So, I figured out very recently, that I have to start keeping up with the weather. I hate that, but I guess it's requirement for homesteading/keeping any outdoor animals. I have always been the person who liked to wake up and be surprised by the outdoors... lesigh....
lots of us store leaves for the winter.. have to be DRY leaves.. I have better luck w/the paper yard bags for long term storage in a protected area.. the MOISTure can escape... I go to town on garbage day (when it's been dry) and grab bags of leaves... I check the bags to make sure there isn't any wet grass...

My tiny human is a picker and she has scars all up and down her arms and legs from picking at mosquito bites and scabs from Cuts. I've been telling her since she was little to stop but she can't. I've started just putting Band-Aids on her but they don't last very long.
When my daughter was young, she got "itchies" and just could not stop scratching. Benadryl cream did help some.
