Anyone mechanically inclined? S10 Blazer no start...

Nice avatar pic there rebelcowboysnb, but why does it say 1948-09-01 on the bottom? Did they have cameras back then?

Wow, didnt think I was that old. What would that make me, 100+?

I never took the time to program the clock on my VCR ether.

So the 100+ would be if the pic was taken in 1948, not your birth date, right? You look pretty good for a 100 year old guy!

So for giggles and grins... it's 7 degrees out - above zero. So I went out and plugged my handy toy in to my '93 S10 to see if it would give me a code 12. It didn't but it did give me three other codes, including something about a volatile RAM error

I have code 55, 51 (both for the ECM) and 43 which is knock sensor which can be caused by the 55 and 51. sigh...

So we checked the farm truck and my son's truck, bith of which said no codes stored and still no 12. I'll call the company on Monday and ask why the book says there will always be a 12 but there isn't.

Check the vacuum hoses they can crack when it is cold and they are old and a small crack can cause problems.

Yea, I'm 30 in the picture, if it was taken in 1948 I would have been 30 in 1948. So 2012-1948=126+30=156 years old.. lol

Wow... I need to go back to school... I got 2012-1948=64+30=94 (my mother was born in 1938, 10 years before the pic... she'll be 74 this year)

Seriously, I do appreciate all of the time and thought. It really is starting to sound ignition related. Do those engines have a module?

Anyway, I believe the ignition module on those is all contained in the distributor.

Its the black C shaped thing under the cap.

There should be a tachometer plug on the distributor. Use a test light there an it should strobe wile trying to start. Also check that there is power in to the distributor.
