Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Well, my scale tells me I've dropped...

.2 pounds. That's like 4 ounces. Could be the coffee I drank!

That's what I figured - I've been plateaued around 140 for months and months. I really need to work on the exercise habit. I've been way too lax this past week. (Although I've walked the dog twice, that's gotta count for something, right?)

Oesdog - you keep at it! You'll get there.

wildorchid - you're awesome! Good job.

Everyone - you're doing great -regardless of what the scale says. Lets just keep going and we'll get there.

Great attitude! Congrats on changing the breakfasts (you did replace the cheezeits and pepsi with something healthier, right?) Great work on the water.

I know, those first few weeks of the struggle are tough, but you get some nice losses! However, when your body starts becoming accustomed to your new eating schedule, lesser food and the better foods you struggle slightly less... and you lose a little less. I knew I was cranky and felt hungry when I knew I wasn't the first couple of weeks. Then I realized about week 4 I didn't want seconds at dinner, and I was eating smaller portions. So I was proud my body accepted my new eating menu.

I struggled through the holidays though, watching everyone else eating like nuts... I did almost ALL of the cooking too. The turkey, the potatoes, the stuffing, the casseroles, the corn, the pies and of course my business.... in a day I would bake 15 dz biscotti!!! If you cook/bake it, you are the taste tester. So I put on 4 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas... but I got RIGHT back on the ball.

I think the 'struggle' is over

Long as I stick to the major rules. NO SODA (not even diet), NO FAST FOOD (if it has a drive thru its OUT), and NO SNACKING AFTER 8PM.

Now to get back to walking regularly! Geez... that's the hard one. I would walk 3-4 nights a week when it was nice, plus I do a LOT of gardening in the spring-fall months. So I feel I am not getting much in the way of exercise.

I may have to come back and get some motivation from you guys soon.... because walking in 30 degree weather is a TURN OFF!!!

P.s.- I weighed in, and its REALLY sad how little I am losing so slowly by now. But I started out at 180 in September, and my goal was 140 by Feb 17th (my 6 year wedding anniversary) and I won't be making it.

I just hope its gone by Summer at this point. I am only losing about 1 lb per week. Though I am several months into my diet and now in a routine. *sigh*

Wildorchid....10 pound in two weeks is fantastic!!! And its still 10 pounds less even if it was less weight loss than the first week.

Everyone, congrats on working so hard and making positive changes.

I'm scheduling my blood work for this week, eveyone wish me luck. I really don't want to be put on meds.

i have changed my eating habits, i defiantely eat smaller portions, instead of chips and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches i have lean cuisine or a salad with tuna or low fat lunch meats and lots of veggies, or an open face sandwich instead of two slices of bread, for dinner i cook pretty much the same.. i never cooked really bad like deep frying i just have cut back on portions by 2/3.. i make round steak and gravy, unlike my mom who battered and fried the meat i sear it in a pan with pam no batter and cook it in healthy cream mushroom soup for a few hours.. or sweet and sour pork i simmer the plain pork chunks in the sauce instead of batter and deep frying... twice a year my hubby gets real fried chicken but basically i cook good. for snacks i eat fruit or nuts, 1" chunk of cheese instead of cookies and milk...or a piece of pie yummm . just smarter choices that i should have always chose.. this is defiantely a lifestyle change for me. i have found i am satisfied with the smaller portions now. it is just a matter of sticking with it.. it is hard when your the cook you always make what you like for dinner. the husbands just eat what you make and when my son or hubby make something yummy like brownies i have a tiny bite.. just enough to make me want more but not enough to add on to my hard work that i have been doing. if you are still with us on week 3 then i am so proud of you all for working hard to eat healthier. god bless you all and keep urging each other on.

Losing 1 pound a week is great! That's a good sustainable, healthy level of weightloss. And it sounds like you've really gotten into a reasonable *lifestyle* change. Great work.

Thanks Anna, I needed that!

Hubby isn't much of a supporter... I told him 20lbs were gone and I was happy, and his response was "It doesn't look like you've lost that much." Of course, he's proud of me, but he's one of those guys that can never say the right thing, I know he didn't mean to sound like that. Sometimes, I want to send him to 'romance' classes or something! LOL

.2 pounds!!! Yeah, the scale is evil...I moved it over to another place on the floor and instantly lost a pound. Of course, that's the weight I'm going with.

Wildorchid, once again you rock!!!

Having to chart my food intake on Sparkpeople has helped me with portion control. It also helps me to remember what I've eaten. This morning is the first time in two weeks when I woke up feeling hungry, really hungry.

Oesdog, put a rubber band on your wrist and each time you let your brain wander to cream dreamland give yourself a snap!!! Really hard too! Won't take you long before you're avoiding even thinking about it.
