Anyone Setting eggs on 4/10/12??? Want to hatch with me?

I set my eggs 4/9. There are 13 Buff Orpington eggs and 3 Lakenvelder Orpingtons. They are shipped eggs so I am hoping for the best!!!! I tried shipped eggs last month, but none hatched because the thermometer was way off. It read 104, so I got a little worried. They weren't at 104, it was at 120. This time I bought am electric thermometer and am hoping that it will work better than the other one. What made it so upsetting was that they all died during lockdown! Before that the temperature was fine. I had bought 18 rouen duck eggs (got 21 with extras) and 12 Buff Orpington eggs (Got 18 with extras). At lockdown I still had 9 duck eggs and 14 chicken eggs. All of the duck eggs were fully developed and 12 of the chicken eggs were.... Anyways, I'm hoping for the best this time :D

Oh man, I feel you on the thermometer problem! I always end up putting 3 thermometers in the bator because I just dont believe any of them, lol. Last year I had 18 Dorkings that were shipped and they all died in lockdown, I think the temp was way off.

Hope you have way better luck this time around!!

I'll join! I started a gob of mutt eggs yesterday (the 10th). I will have to count them some time I guess. I just stuck a bunch in there. haha! Can't wait to candle these kids in a few days!
I love hatching out mutt eggs because they're all so different and I get to guess who their parents are. Nothing wrong with a little variety!

I love my mutt chickens to!! It is so excitng see what they look like. I have decided that I am just inventing my own breed of chicken

My mixes are great layers and I love the olive green color of the eggs to EE/BO and EE/Cochin. so much fun!!!

I started a tray and a half of turkey eggs but now I am worried. My temp went up to 102 ( not for long, I saw it and open door to bring it down fast.so now I don't know if to pitch them. That 90 turkey eggs, and something killed three of my hens yesterday afternoon.

They should be fine. My tempurature was at 104 for the last week of my last incubation, and they were alive when lockdown came, I saw them move plenty. When my eggs died, was when it got to 120 during lockdown.

I'll join you, too. I set 15 German New Hampshires (

) on April 9th at about 6 pm, so I shouldn't be too far off. I'm using a Hovabator Genesis 1588, and I like a drier hatch - 30-35% for incubation and 55-60% for lockdown. I just finished up with the Easter Hatch and have 19 little fuzzies in the brooder. I can't wait for some of these GNHs to join them.

I did the 30-35% for incubation last time and had great luck! I was to chicken (no pun intended) to do a lower humidity for lockdown though, lol.. Oh I wish I already had fuzzy butts in the brooder, makes the wait easier.

The humidity usually climbs while they hatch anyhow. By the time they are popping like popcorn, it is sometimes in the upper 70s. For some reason, it always seems like my slow pokes (the ones after the popping-like-popcorn phase - all very technical here

) do better with higher humidity. So, I usually go into lockdown around 60 and then maintain around 68 for the slow pokes.

Oh, boy. Here we are talking about lockdown.... which is still 16 days away for me

. Having chicks in the brooder is just making me impatient for these. I want them to hatch so that I can meet them already.
