the different temps and humidity on different thermometers just about drives me crazy so i just keep one, so i'm sorry i don't know why temps differ like that
as long as the temp didn't stay 102 for too long, they should be alright...my bator does that all the time, i'm glad i don't have an outside job or else i don't know how i'd ever be able to incubate because i'm constantly on top of this bator like an old worried nelly....
i candle from the air cell because i can never really figure out what i'm looking at - i'm still learning about everything, especially candling..but it's easier for me to see movement when i shine the light at the air cell
i read on here that as long as the eggs are not out of the bator for more than 15-20 minutes you should be okay candling...besides, mother hen doesn't sit on her eggs 24/7 - she does get up to eat, drink and stretch her legs...i even watched my dove when she sat on her first clutch she'd have the eggs under her for a long time but then she'd scoot out of their way so she wasn't sitting on them anymore for at least 30 minutes then she'd scoop them up under her again...
my temp and humidity are now holding nicely - must be the nice weather we had today - we got into the 60's today...hopefully the weather stays warm and i won't have to worry too much

Not sure about the thermometer issues, but for candling, I usually candle from the side or later on I shine the light into the air cell so that I can see better. I take one out, candle it, then put it right back.
