Anyone taken their chickens into public places? petsmart?

I took a chicken with a butt issue a few months back to the feed store to ask them what was going on with it's butt. Didn't know how to explain it so I figured I'd show it to them. I had her wrapped in a towel and she laid in my lap while I drove. My others ride in dog carriers. I take them to the vet I work for once in a blue moon even though he's not an exotic vet. I try to sneak them in so clients don't see them but occasionally I get caught and I always get a bunch of questions.

We used to have a handicapped hen (Priscilla) that was a housechicken by night. While she was still wearing her plaster leg cast, dh & I had a huge late night craving for Krispy Kreme donuts. We loaded up our little dog and Priscilla and headed to Krispy Kreme, giggling the whole way. The order taker saw Priscilla sitting on my lap and hollered towards her coworkers, "Y'all come look at this!" I'm sure those Krispy Kreme employees remembered that night for a long time.

Priscilla also was a clandestine guest at a hotel where dh's family members were staying during a family reunion.

Before we left to return home, I let Priscilla out at the picnic area where dh's family got to meet her and have pictures made with her.

two weeks ago my neighbors had a graduation party for their son. I had helped with the setup and stuff. My neighbor lady loves Bird and the Fluffy Butts. during dinner, She asked if i would go get May and let her wander around and meet eveyone. SOOOOO... i did. I let her out of her pen and she ran right behind me like a dog the 1500 feet across the yard, through the trees, and popped her little head out of the bushes to be greated by 150 upity people eating at the tables.

OMG.. it was so funny. I did NOT expect the reaction i got!!!! people were just so excited to see her. everyone wanted their photo with her, etc. She just loved it. She was like the little dog that ran around under the table picking up scraps and stuff. She was in 7th heaven. people were petting her and giver her treats. (she loved the peach fluff with tapioca and the rigatoni with meat sauce!!!). I let her stay with us for a few hours until i was worried she might 'overeat' or get something bad, etc. so i called to her and she followed me back to the pen. It was great.

I had her on a street fair float this spring and she could have cared less as long as she had FOOD!!!!!! I just love rescue hens.....

This photo may come out really tiny, but it's of me with Miss Floppy at a public speaking class. My subject was chickens, and she behaved beautifully. She just sat in her box quietly the whole time, and we were the last speech of the evening.

I won't take them to the pet stores here, same reason I won't go - they always have very sick animals, I know we'd get something. But, have had them out and about, one hen LOVES to go to DH's dojo.
