I agree BUT - in America, where do I find unprocessed milk, raw butter? Where do I find foods that are "clean" and completely unprocessed? I can't, unless I raise it myself. That is ultimately the problem in this country. I make all my food from scratch but even the ingredients I use have been processed and modified, be it through genetically modified grains and vegetables (which they don't even have to tell me!) or through making it illegal to purchase raw dairy products. For example, did you know that unsalted butter has MSG in it? It's not on the label and they don't have to tell you. So, I THINK I just made that cake from scratch but the flour is GM grain, the butter has MSG and God only knows what's in the eggs and milk!

There is a reason people have become so large and it's probably due to profit and greed. When I travel overseas very few food products are altered, overly processed or even illegal to buy. For example, in Europe all Coke and Pepsi is still made with sugar. High fructose corn syrup is not allowed to be used. There is a reason for that - it's probably the most toxic thing out there and has now been added into everything in the American diet. It is made from GM corn and it's killing us.

I agree completely. Processed 'healthy' meals are just the opposite. I try to make as much as I can from scratch so that I know exactly what's in it. We drink raw milk from our goats, hunt for some of our meat (deer, quail) etc.

Not that i'm the epitome of skinnyness

Should I be? Both my kids are intolerant to MSG protein, so I have self taught most of what I know

You'd be surprised. PM me, and I bet I can get you hooked up with raw milk and everything else.

We do too! Goats milk doesn't even have to be homogenized due to goat body temps. Farmer's markets are good places for 'real' food! We're attempting to regain natural food sources for everything we consume. It's a difficult transition to say the least though

My hubby has been wanting to get goats for some time. I know they are a lot of work and they need to be bred to produce milk...and so on and so on. That's why we haven't gotten them so far.

I was wondering though, what does goat's milk taste like?

It just has a richer flavor because it is richer, all the good for you stuff is still there...hard to describe. Like maybe a stronger flavor than store bought whole milk. OK, best description would be store bought tastes stale in comparison. You have to try it to know what I mean though

ETA: You can buy goats already bred and close to kidding date, that's what we done. It costs a little more, but in the long run evens out and you will have milk from the goat you're feeding sooner. My theory: no sense feeding something useless for your intended purpose for a length of time until it gains it's usefullness. Add to that fact you will have another goat to raise or sell. It's very much more cost effective. I think animals should pay themselves off or it's not conducive to my goals of self sustenance.
