Anyone want to lose some weight too? So I'm not starvin' by myself?

My husband swore up and down he wouldn't drink milk from a goat, didn't want goats.....He's a cowboy, and 'goat' is a dirty word. He gave it a try though, and prefers it to store bought cow's milk. I like the texture better, it's smoother to me. The texture is fresher, if that makes sense, not nearly as watery. The milk is wonderful for raising orphaned calves and other baby animals. The flavour is different but not in a bad way; any raw milk will taste different to store bought milk. It does not taste like the smell of a goat at all, but it is important not to let the goats feed on any weeds as that can taint the milk.

We got off to a false start when I tried the milk too early after kidding. I was wondering what on earth i'd done as we now had several goats. It still has colostrum in it for the first 2-3 weeks after giving birth, and at that point it does taste absolutely awful!

The flavour varies from goat to goat, and first-time fresheners are more likely to have trouble kidding, so I would start with a goat whose milk you can taste before you buy her.

The best use for celery, is making bone broth.
Save your chicken bones, or, if you can get real marrow bones, roast ehm briefly, then cover with water and simmer for 24 hours.
Near the end, add in your celery and whatever other veges you wnat to flavor, plus some sea salt and other italian type herbs, such as savory, thyme and margoram.
Make sure to get the marrow mixed into the broth.
You will be left with a rich gelatinous broth that is full of good calcium, and lots of other minerals.
Its very healing for the gut as well.

I am doing GREAT. Lost 4 pounds in a week.

Starting Weight-148#
Goal Weight-125#
Current Weight-144#
Height-5' 4''

My weight was 143.5 this morning, 144 now, but should be even lower by tomorrow. I had 6 oz. of V8 this morning and a 100 calorie lemon yogurt. At around 10 [we were leaving so I wanted to eat before we went to town so I wouldn't have to grab some fast food] 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread and 8 oz. of chocolate milk, and 2 marshmallows for lunch, then [my only splurge] a medium mocha frappe at McDonalds at 3. Then I had a pear, a small serving of mashed potatoes and peas, 1 piece of wheat bread and butter, and 8 oz. of white milk for supper. I am a little hungry now, but I am determined and am NOT eating anything else tonight. I am doing good and will not spoil it. I can't believe I had this much self control [besides with the Frappes]. My dad left 3 cans of Pepsi for me on Sunday, I usually devour them, but only had one so far, on Monday. I am also limiting myself to 8 oz. of chocolate milk, in the afternoon, per day. There have been MANY days in my life where I have had 3-16 oz. glasses of chocolate milk per day, morning, afternoon, and night. That is 1200 calories of chocolate milk, now I am down to 200 calories of chocolate milk per day. My goal is 125#, but I have never been thin so I don't know what will look best, for all I know 115# or 120#, or maybe 130# will look best. The best weight for me is what I am aiming for. I am so excited about all this. I am really inspired now. Yesterday I talked to an old friend who lives about 300 miles from me. 4 yrs ago she weighed about 15 pounds more than me, and we were about the same height. Now I am 1 1/2 inches taller than her but she weighs over 20 pounds less than me now. I sure hope my parents will try to drop a few pounds too, they are not obese, but are overweight.

Nupine...I hate you (no, really just kidding). I wish I was 148 lbs. right now.
I did lose 42 lbs. last year on Weight Watchers and have kept all but three pounds off as it keeps creeping back--I lose it, and gain it back, lose it again, gain it again --

!!! I need to lose 40 more pounds to be where I should be. My eating habits are much better but I need more support!! Help me!! I need someone to shove me onto the excercycle every day!!

All of you deserve to be commended for your efforts. I know how difficult it is to lose weight or even maintain a certain weight. I currently weigh 4 pounds less than I did forty years ago and staying that weight has taken constant effort. The last few years I haven't maintained the muscle tone I once had and I had started thinking that at my age why bother. Reading all your posts has encouraged me to once again start trying to stay in the best possible condition and health. Thank you and I wish all of you the best possible sucess.

Well, we finally got started today.
We are writing down everything we eat and we are loking on the packages to see what the recommended portions are. We added every calorie up and will continue to do so with a goal of 1200 to 1500 calories a day each.
