Anyone watch Whale Wars??

Swimming with dolphins is a blast!
I did it in Mexico when I was 13 or so. It was marvelous. The weirdest part is how their bodies feel to the touch. Exactly like a wet rubber ball, not fleshy at all. Truly bizarre!

OccamsTazer, I am truely jealous!! But I have heard from many people that it really is an awesome experience! I envy you!!

No, they really aren't. I actually know someone personally who was attacked while swimming with dolphins. To date, there is no documented case of a dolphin killing someone, but dolphins biting and dragging under the water, as well as ramming with force, are well documented. They are a wild animal.

I am in no way in favor of whaling. The day, time and era is far over.

Now that being said---

Them folks with Paul Watson will eventually kill themselves or some one else. They are dangerous, inexperienced, and obviously foolish. The list of seaman ship mistakes they make is very long. Capsized boats, lost boats, injuries it goes on and on.

They suspended, do to safety concerns, and will continue the hunt once they have been addressed. I am not for or against whaling, but the sea shepards are nothing more than eco terrorists and should be treated as such. I despise this form of tree hugging, and believe you should never bring a knife to a gunfight, unless you are truly ready to meet your maker.

They are nothing more than modern day terrorist's. Really they are lucky so far that they haven't been blown out of the water. Having feelings against something is one thing. Vigilanty spelling lol groups are in the wrong with their action's and should be dealt with accordingly. The animal planet channel is nothing more than a one sided look at life for the humanic groups IMHO.

the definition of terrorist is someone who uses terror tactics against civilians for political ends, well that was the original meaning anyway. really don't know if sea shepherd with their insistence on non-violent tactics count. risky tactics yes but they don't go out to harm lives just stop what the whalers are doing. they are also doing nothing illegal despite what the japanese might say. there have been quite some number of attempts to prosecute them for their actions and the only one that has had any success in the one against the captain of the ady gil and that was about him going on board the japanese vessal after his boat was sunk and nothing to do with any of the other stuff they did prior to that. and he just got a suspended sentence and deported back to new zealand at the end of the court case.

whatever your feelings about sea shepherd's tactics you have to admit they have worked this season. the japanese have just given up and are heading back to japan due to the harrassment, well before their season ended and only getting 20% of their quota. the whole point of their actions is to make whaling unprofitable for the japanese and it is working.

oh and i have never seen whale wars but have heard it is a bit dreadful haha.

totally agree with your sentiment but the rainbow warrior was sunk in auckland harbour here in new zealand in 1985 after being bombed by the french intelligence services and yes one person was killed. it was getting ready to go to mururoa atoll to protest against french nuclear testing there. over twenty five years later there's still a fair bit of ill will towards the french in new zealand over that one haha.
