We have a 3 year old brindle boxer/pit mix. His name is Max. I am at work, otherwise I'd post a picture. I will post a picture of him when I get home.
We found him on Craigslist a year ago March. The owners told us they were moving and couldn't take him with them.
Well, for the 1st week, my husband had to roam the neighborhood because he would jump our 6 foot chainlink fence. I'm thinkin' that's the reason the owners wanted to rehome him.
We had the cops called on us because we were walking through yards trying to get him. So, after a couple of calls from people reporting we were "casing" their neighborhoods, the cop would just ask if we lost our dog again.
We had him neutered, and my DS worked on obedience training him for 4-H. We kept him on a long cable until about a month ago (he broke it). Thinking that the obedience training worked and he is a year older, we kept the gates shut and put him in his run if we were leaving. It was good for the 1st couple of weeks. Now we have to make sure he is not shut in his run because he will jump the 6 ft fence into the neighbors yard, rather than the 4 ft fence that would allow him more area in our yard to run around in.
Love the dog! He is a big baby who loves to ride in a car and stay outdoors. Hardly barks unless he sees a snake or gila monster. Loves his belly rubbed and going for walks. Loves horses and chasing cats and chickens. He does does have selective hearing so even if you call his name, he might ignore you (just like my kids). He is such a good dog, but we gotta find a way to keep him in our yard!
He loves people, especially kids. One time we found him sitting in the middle of 6 little kids, tongue hanging out, just basking in the attention. However, adults are wary of him and I'm afraid they will call animal control on him. We do have him licensed and microchipped just in case.
