I've got nuthin,squatting checking out boxes, mopeing like crappy teenagers but still nada. I'm so good to these girls and they repay me with sas.They better be glad I'm a patient woman, although I have thought about squeezing some pullets.

I know how you feel I got squatting and singing and even a little nesting but still the only eggs in the nesting box are the dummies

Stella finally laid her 2nd egg today. Only took her 9 days!

Woke up this morning to 2 egg songs going on at the same time!!

Soooo excited We all leaped outta bed, barely threw on slippers, ran out to find... ZERO
No fanny fruits, no butt nuggets nothing! The ladies got a serious talkin let me tell you!
No more singing & playing around. Back to work girls.

Btw after the last egg, i straightened up the nest box. Leveled out the shavings, unburied the golf balls, put in a new sprig of lavender. Do you think this scared them off? They haven't gone in there in 2 days

Well, sometimes they don't like it, but as long as there's no where else to lay, it's probably ok. Sometimes everyone begins singing the egg song when one of them does.
Mine did this yesterday. Blondie was getting ready to lay, and the other pullets joined her pre-egg song. It's a very exciting time for them as well as for us...
My last years' 2 hens I got as chicks hatched May 19th, and they didn't lay until spring. Meanwhile, the three 2015 hens were molting, and I had no eggs at all last winter. So I got this batch earlier to prevent that. I think everyone's April chicks will start laying before fall. They should all start soon.

Tiny my sex link has been in the nest box most of the morning she scared me at first cuz i walked out to let them out of the coop and everyone ran out including her went in to do a few things came out I did a head count and found one (Tiny) missing and after loosing one to a predator already got scared looked in the coop and found her sitting in the nest box I have been checking to make sure everyone is sill there n she still in the box

and just to set the record straight the egg on the left the lighter colored egg is a dummy egg which can be taken out now
