Finally one 30gm egg from Pele my RIR
So small, so cute! I'm so proud of my girl:highfive::bun:yesss:
Now how do we get her to go in the nest box?

I would keep them in the coop until they lay before letting them out. Now that I am up to 3 layers no freedom until I see 3 eggs...

Also and I do not know if it makes a difference but when I am in the coop and one squats I pick her up and put her in the nest box.

So far all 3 of my layers are laying in the box, although one has dropped a couple from the roost. I made a roll out box, no bedding at all just a dense carpet and they are still laying in the box.

One of the Leghorns, Blondie, is seriously checking out next boxes today, and ba-gawking a lot.... may be that a white egg is coming!
I find it funny that the wooden fruit crate nests on top used to be the primo choice for our hens, the other wood ones now beside, were below, never ever used. But since I put in the wicker basket and the milk crate, they all only have eyes for those....

Meanwhile, the Sebright is still the only pullet laying...we had mini deviled eggs with lunch today...she's lays about 5 per week so far.

We had lil devily eggs sunday dinner too!

4/7 today! :wee:wee:wee

My Golden Laced Wyandotte laid a cute little light brown egg! So far I can tell who is laying what, thanks to the barred rock yesterday leaving some feather stuck to the egg and Goldie today I was nearby and had noticed her in the box. The leghorns lay different sized eggs right now but that could change. One more brown egglayer left to start, the golden buff/sex link is squatting no eggs from her yet, but the day is not over!

Gary :celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate

Edited to say I AM DONE BUYING EGGS!
