April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Pics
Still have freeloaders. Starting to get salty about it.
They aren't really freeloading...their bodies, in these few short months, are getting ready for a lifetime of almost daily production of nutrition packed eggs. Eggs are truly a super food.
I've only been getting 2 or 3 daily from 6 pullets (born April 1). I don't know if all 4 leghorns are laying since the most white eggs in a day have been 3. I know the D'Uccle bantam isn't laying yet or even showing signs of. And the Sebright is busy brooding eggs, they are on day 13 now. Eight days to go, and she'll be a mama already! To think six months ago, they were all tiny chicks themselves! It's pretty amazing, if you think about it......

It is pretty amazing,isn't it!
Every time I pick up an egg, I wanna give my ladies a big hug of thanks. They don't seem quite so thrilled with that so so I just tell them they're good girls & toss around some treats. :clap

That said, we're back to a super consistent 1/3 every day. Bunch a squatters... meaning they're all squatting now!! :lau

This mornin when hubby went to let everyone out... he said the littles (polish bantams) were toolin round inside the coop. One was in the corner and the other on the trash can... when he came back there was a lil egglet where the one was in the corner. :celebrate. Yesterday i knew i had a new egglet cause it was so small but thought it was the buff that has been rootin round in the box and leavin no prize. Guess maybe it was the little instead. He said she was in the corner cause THE nest box was occupied. :lau. Their wattles are tinny.

Hubby was also happy cause one of the turkey he s left him a prize early. He has pouted last week cause we had toss their eggs. We did wazine and had todd em for a week. Today was day nine so he got to keep it for his breaky.

I heard one of the leghorns sing the egg song, and came in to see her leaving the nest with this tiny white egg in it....I have never seen one of these 'fairy eggs' or 'fart eggs' before, but read about them in other threads. I opened it and sure enuf, no yolk!
3/6 if you count this one....

Oh I forgot to say that I still have 3 others that have not laid yet, only one other just started to squat.
They are 23 weeks
hmmm should I open it? Not sure what I was going to do with it. Wasn't going to eat it and I didn't want to leave it there.
