I moved the pullets from their temporary coop/run (Formex large coop and a 5x20 ft run) into their new coop (10x9 feet) and run (1400 sq feet) Saturday night at dusk. I was thinking I'm not going to be getting any eggs for a few days, but I got 4 yesterday and 4 today so far. I'm going to keep them locked in their new coop for a week and then let them out into the yard but so far it looks like they are enjoying their new coop. I hope I get back up to the 7 eggs (9 would be better) soon.![]()
hmmmm....maybe I will let them out tomorrow. I got 6 eggs today...all in the nest boxes.View attachment 1145084 View attachment 1145083 View attachment 1145083
Shoot. If they are layin in it i would go on let em out. As long as it is a closed run and no free rangin. If it comes to it i bet they can be bribed by treats to come in at night.. We were bad chicken parents when we put ours in their new digs and just let em all out that day. Lol. The first night they were all sittin on the steps at dusk. The second all but two were on the roosts.
That's great! So easy@peckpeckpeck I didn't do anything to the play house, just stuck a left over long stake in there for them to roost in during the day and some sand/DE on bottom. They LOVE to roost in there during the day.

Love the color !!! I got my kid shed for free. Still trying to figure out the yard layout and where it will end up. I have Sand in the bottom and now I know what other mean when they say it smells. When it rains it gets smelly. They don't even poop in it much.
I have had 4 eggs out of 5 days form the only one that is laying.
1 other still squatting but I have not seen anyone playing in the nest boxes. I have 2.
Maybe you need to add another box ? How many hens do you have?
