April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Wow they are some nice dark brown eggs. As well as nice size to for chickens first laying. What type are they?

Thank you. I have 3 Rhode Island Reds hens and 2 Easter Egger hens and 1 Easter Egger Roo. Tomorrow they will be 23 weeks.

Try's to fool you so you let your guard down. I started chasing them and screeching. He thought I was crazy so avoided me

But thats the thing... he KNOWS we are watchin his sorry self. :/. He paces us farther out one day. The next closer. The next nearly at our feet. Then the next he goes for dumb assitis. And he has had boots, bowls, whatever we have out there and sticks at him and it jus doent matter. He is just a dolt! And bound for chicken n dumplins because of it. Bonehead! Any other time when he gets hit with whatever he knocks it off and stays away for a few days then starts the stalkin all over. He has never come right back at us until today.

Well the other 5 are the jerks! Trying to skate by and let their sisters do all the work. Buffy, the golden buff/red sex link should be next I think. I have 14 eggs in the fridge from the market and 4 on the counter... I am hoping to stop buying eggs soon but 2 eggs a day for 4 people not going to cut it. I use 1/2 dozen a day during the week I want to send my kids to school with something healthy in their stomachs so I will still be buying some, but fewer at least.

No eggs today but I caught my Welsummer checking out the nest boxes and one of the old Orps ran her off their favorite nesting box. May get some golfballs and put in the far right box for her to check out.

We put 6 gold balls out in the nesting boxes weeks ago so they know where to lay and so far so good. Eggs only in the boxes.

The girls heard something rumbly close to that from the man but it was after dumb boy did his thang... so i am positive they didnt take him seriously.

My son works at a golf club as a chef, so when he came home today I ask him to bring me some golf balls home tomorrow so I can put them in the nest boxes the other hens are not using. I got this weird ass look from him. LOL
