But thats the thing... he KNOWS we are watchin his sorry self. :/. He paces us farther out one day. The next closer. The next nearly at our feet. Then the next he goes for dumb assitis. And he has had boots, bowls, whatever we have out there and sticks at him and it jus doent matter. He is just a dolt! And bound for chicken n dumplins because of it. Bonehead! Any other time when he gets hit with whatever he knocks it off and stays away for a few days then starts the stalkin all over. He has never come right back at us until today.
I'm down to 3 boys now. I don't have any problems with them. The mean ones were white leghorns. And thankfully they are gone! Hope you have dumplings soon!

Today my son came home with 3 golf balls for me. I went and placed 2 of them in the nesting box at the far end. I then went into the pen with the girls and was playing with them. One of the girls went into the coop and started chattering and all the sudden another one came in until all the girls were in and looking in to the nesting box. My older girls backed away like they were scared of it. The new ladies just all chattered together like women gossiping about something they saw or heard. It was so funny. I didn't see anyone go into the box to check it out. I stayed there for about 5 minutes or so and watched the girls slowly return to the pen. We will see what happens tomorrow with egg production from the old girls and the newbies. 2 eggs from the old girls out of 3 since she just got over being broody a little over a week ago. Now to wait on the new girls to start laying. They will be 20 weeks on Aug 14th.

Mine did the same when we added more fake eggs, these to the new extra nests. The little Sebright has tried out all the nests over and over. I'd be flabbergasted if she laid the first egg. The six of them will all be 20 weeks on Monday if I'm counting correctly from April 1.

Yes that will be 20 weeks it the same age as mine are . Seems like we gotten them at the same time.

1/7 so far today... today they are on lockdown until I see another egg, they will associate freedom with egg laying... I have explained it all to them in great detail and they are promising to get busy on the eggs, once I am getting 3 a day then thats the expectation, until I get 4... then 7...
The White leghorns eggs have been a gram or two bigger each time up to 48 grams today, the brown leghorn is really starting off small, first egg 31 2nd only 30 grams! cute little things and even cuter in the frying pan!

EDITED 2/7 today, I let them out for a couple of hours after explaining to them that 5 of them are only getting out because their 2 sisters did all the work. I explained to them the importance of a colorful egg basket.
