I've been looking at the chick that's injured and I realized the its wing is missing (the cat ate it) right now I'm letting it dry off what should I do when I get it out
It dosen't seem to be in too much pain

First-timer here, just went into lockdown with 8 eggs! Candled last night and marked the air sacs. Saw a couple moving, no red lines... blue eggs couldn’t see anything except the air pocket. Fingers crossed....

Yesterday night was day 21 . I’m so happy! One hatch last night. They are all hybrids that we got from a friend. Hopefully more to come! None of the others have started pipping yet though .

The way I see it you have two options. Either cull it. Or allow it to live without a wing. That also means she or he won't be able to fly. You will have to make sure she/he will be able to get up on the perch without having to fly up. And you will have to keep an eye out to make sure she/he is not getting picked on by the others. Chickens can be mean. If you can and are willing to provide this, the chick has a chance. If not, please cull it.

Yesterday at 4:00 pm was my 21 day. I have had more than half wait to pip until after that time. I am still waiting on 4 eggs this morning - 2 have pipped and 2 have not. I have heard to let them go to day 23 before worrying too much. I hope more hatch for you!

Wow I am so insanely behind on this thread! Bahahaha. I’m just checking in to update on my runner eggs, they’re due to hatch this weekend Sunday/Monday! Out of 10 eggs, 2 were cracked and discarded, 2 were early quitters, and I have one more that just quit around day 20. The other 5 look good, so I’m hopeful they make it to hatch. It was a struggle to keep them from dehydrating too fast but I think they’ll be ok. Thursday (tomorrow) is lockdown so wish me luck!!

Question for you all... I have a duckling that was pipped when we got up yesterday morning so has been for at least 32 hours. I seem to remember my ducks taking forever to hatch last time, but maybe not quite this long. The egg continues to rock and is definitely alive, but how long would you wait before making an air hole or trying to help the little guy in some way?

We just had a hatch. So far just the one.

Ended up helping. She pipped the shell, but somehow not through the membrane. I helped a bit and with a qtip coated the membrane with a bit of coconut oil and a while later she was still struggling against it so I removed a bit more.

She hatched a few hours later. Hoping she does well. I've named her April.
