April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

I’m worried my one egg that was developing so good has a blood ring :( I’m not sure what they look like but I’m going to go look it up. I also have two that look like when they started- just a floating yolk it seems. Would these be considered clears? I won’t move them unless they smell but just wondering how many chicks could potentially be born.
Clears usually all you can see is a yolk. You might want to pull those after 7 days if there are no veins because they'll explode after a while.

How long have you had them in the incubator? Your egg that looks like it has a blood ring, probably does. On occasion though, the ring turns out to be an unusual formation of blood vessels. If, in the next few days, it has none of the beautiful spidery, branching red veins, it is dead.

The clears are not fertile. Sometimes it's hard to see the very first stages of life, though. I leave mine in with the other ones up to seven days, but I've never had one surprise me that was three days in when I checked it and it had nothing. If it were me and I wanted that incubator for another batch, I'd toss them at 4-5 days if no signs of life.

Okay yesterday when I checked, it was day 12 and they still look like floating yolks with no veins. I’m just scared to take anything out “just in case” but it should be safe now by day 12 right if I don’t see any veins?

After looking up images of a blood ring, it doesn’t look quite like that. It looks like veins maybe a little big... but not covering the entire egg. I’ll see if I can get a picture tonight.

Thanks for the help everyone!

3 hatched overnight and surprised us this AM! 1 silver laced polish, one silkie, and our own PhoenixXpolishXmille fleur. Shes totally black like the her daddy with gray little highlights lol.

Day 19 for my Sapphire Gem eggs today. Was waiting on 2 Appenzeller's to dry and see if one more would hatch before cleaning out the hatcher and putting the Sapphire Gem eggs in. Got the 2 chicks moved, but the pipped egg is still only pipped (and still have one unpipped that I think is done). So upped the humidity on my Janoel and moved them over there for a short time. Got the hatcher cleaned, set back up, and stable. Candled the Sapphire Gem eggs and ended up with 2 quitters. So set 8 Sapphire Gem eggs and the Appenzellar eggs in the hatcher. Candled my 12 Barnyard mix eggs (day 7) and removed 3 clears. Silkies are just hanging out until Sunday when I candle them for the last time and move them to the hatcher. Have some Svart Hona eggs on the way and 3 other sets of eggs I am bidding on over the next week - will fill up both the Hovabator and the Janoel if I get them all.
