In my experience Marans are always slow pokes so I think they're just taking their time.

Yes, this has absolutely proven true for me as well. Still makes me worry.

Hi everyone today is day 10 I candled again and outlined my air cells I weighed a few but the first I weighed them was on day 7. So it’s only been 3 days a few have lost 1% I’m assuming a few just under I don’t think my scale weighs super precisely. Can anyone tell me if this looks ok?
I think it kinda looks somewhere between 7th day and 14th according to the diagram but idk I’m not experienced enough to tell by just looking..

Little Ranger is in the brooder with sisters and brothers now. Crossing my fingers that all is well with him. I’m over here anxiously staring at my G-Bear Farms Marans eggs. It’s day 20 and still no pips. I have seen 4 wiggle though. I’ve always had pips the morning of day 20 so I’m slightly panicked. There are 13 eggs in there and I’ll be SO happy if I end up with 5 healthy babies. Crossing my fingers.
I also left 2 of the Ameraucana eggs in there with them. It’s day 22 for them. I don’t think they will hatch but I didn’t want to toss quite yet.

They look good for day 10 to me. Silkie eggs are small so the air cells are also smaller. Weighing works best when you start from day one but you can still get an idea of how quickly they're losing weight the way you're doing it.

I have 4 chicks and 2 more have pipped. They are olive eggers (marans x lavender ameraucana and f2s.
I also bought chicks from work. They were in a mixed tank, 15 different breeds, that included bluebell olive eggers and olive eggers. Not sure what all the other breeds were. I do know marans, welsummer were on that list too. Might go and take a picture of the list of breeds.

Haha I have no idea. I think my mom got it at a thrift store and gave it to me.

I lived in upstate NY for 6 years and they take their Tom+Jerry’s seriously... as soon as the leaves start to fall, it’s totally acceptable to have one with breakfast/lunch/dinner or all three!

Back to chickens: has your chick eaten yet? All of mine have started eating and somewhat drinking except my umbilical issue chick. Even the final one that hatched after her.
All 7 that made it to lock down hatched. 7/18 for my first experience with shipped eggs.
