Yayyyyy!!!! You found local Delawares???I have 6 external pips on my duck eggs! Hearing their little peeps inside their shells never gets old.
I threw out 4 more eggs from my second batch of shipped eggs. Awful awful air cells and clear eggs. Even though they were packed awesome I’m wondering if they had soccer games played with their box haha.
luckily I finally found someone local witha quality Delaware line so she’s going to hatch me some.
Im only laughing because I'd be cryingHave six pips, one zip, and a broody running crazy through the yard.
I’m out here with dogs and toddler and I can’t do anything about it for a half hour. Mess. If she does t go back in a few minutes I’ll take them all to incubator. I don’t think she has been sitting on tbem for a while there’s poops in the other part of the broody pen. I should have moved her before yesterday for sure.
I feel like I MAY have a shockingly good result? Who knows, it’s early still.Im only laughing because I'd be crying
I wouldn't trust her either.I feel like I MAY have a shockingly good result? Who knows, it’s early still.
stepped on, pecked at whatever it is in the incubator... is still breathing. I was THIS CLOSE TO BURYING IT when it peeped. Anyway, I feel this is great news that it’s still breathing. It’s been 3 hours since I got it in the bator and I am just going to think it would have already died. Over half of its shell is off, so I’m hoping it doesn’t tear the membrane and bleed. I put coconut oil on the entire exposed membrane and it’s drying out however still transparent enough I can see veins and it’s not ready yet.
mama is currently sitting pretty and spread out over all the other eggs. 6+ pips I’d bet one at least has hatched and so far so good. I’ll lift her up soon to check. I hate being so bothersome to her but A- she doesn’t mind and B- I don’t trust her now.![]()
Oh I hope it resolves. Quail are so tiny!!!! Could you even splint it?I wouldn't trust her either.
I have a quail with splay legs. Hopefully it corrects itself. I put it in a cup and I'll keep doing it until it strengthens its legs.
Does it have a roof? I would really want it to have a roof, if only a bit of extra board or a spare tote lid, etc., with a paver or something to keep it there...I locked her in the box with wire over the front to keep the other hens from booting her and messing with the babies. It’s a high box so this should also protect the babies. I’ll decide today before dusk whether to move her and the ones that have hatched or do it in the morning. Mostly based off when the first one actually hatches.
she does not mind me handling her or checking underneath her.
i feel so dumb moving her this late.
Yes, she is back in the original nest box she picked. I meant that it is one of the higher nest boxes, so I needed to block off the babies from falling out.Does it have a roof?
