April 2022 hatch-a-long (non-Easter, and Easter welcome)

I call it a love dot, but after one day of incubating a fertile egg, you can see a circle about the size of an eraser.

As you get to know your hatching eggs you can find this on day one, day 2 it will be 2x this size.

My double egg is still going day 10, I don't know how many more days it will continue to go, but I did hold it this morning and told it I love it, and it did a little dance for me.

Speaking of talking to animals, my dog was sitting on my couch looking sad. I asked if he was missing my son, and I told my dog I went to see my son and his wife last week. (My son lives 2 states to the East) My dog shifted his eyes to the East, and not the front door which is to the North. My pupper is smart.

My Fielder Farms eggs from AL came a day early! Whoohoo...but not too happy with the USPS. Clearly paid extra for the special handling, the PO forgot to place the fragile tape...then they failed to hold at PO like they were supposed to and call me. We did this back in November and had no problems.
I heard a big thump at the door...my eggs! Wow. .so much for
"Handle with care live eggs inside!"

Grr! I had eggs shipped from OH once, and I was expecting a call from the PO for my eggs. They didn't call so I called them. They said "No eggs came." But later I got a call and said "I did get a package, but it was cookies, not eggs." The eggs were in a cookie box, and one end was crushed- killing 6 eggs. (Even it it was cookies did I want them crushed?) I know some still hatched but it was upsetting. I ordered a dozen, and the lady had sent 18. I told her I got the package, but lost 6. She said, "Good thing I sent 18.":hit

Wow! I looked back at the "ring" camera but it is totally useless...ATT Fiber and still only caught the dude as he turned and walked off the porch. Didn't catch him walking up to the door or dropping them from standing!
Candled em all late last night and there are 3 I couldn't find an aircell on at all. And then half the others have saddled air cells.
Another difficult hatch ahead I'm afraid.

I found my good candle light and was able to confirm that I have 5 healthy geese embryos and one duck. I am concerned about the duck, it was her very first egg and it quite small so it may run out of room. Day 15 so half way there...duck may hatch at 28 but the geese can go til 30. I've hatched one batch of ducklings before, but these are my first goslings and I can't wait!!
