April 2022 hatch-a-long (non-Easter, and Easter welcome)

I am going to join this HAL even though I am also in the Easter one! I have some eggs that shipped later than I thought they would and won't be here till Saturday at the earliest, which means setting them on Monday at the earliest. My first set is on day 6--I set 10 bantam EE eggs and it appears that 8 of them are developing. The second set were started on the 29th and were 8 self blue d'Anvers. I will be candling them again tonight in hopes of seeing if some are developing. I tried last night and there were about half that may not develop but I know Day 2 is usually too soon to be sure. But I can't NOT candle haha. When I candled the bantam EEs at Day 2 I was sure 4 were not going to develop and two of them are looking really solid now, so I am hopeful for the d'Anvers too. The last batch will be bantam buff Brahmas. I have one little light Brahma and she's a doll, so I thought maybe she'd want a friend.

I set more eggs today. So should hatch on April 22. IF any are fertilized this time..

My first egg hatched. It was a couple days ahead because it was a silky, the dad is a NN, I hope it looks like a show girl. This is one of the eggs from MT. (Not from the doubled ones)

It is so nice to see things hatch after so long. The other eggs will take longer, some were set a day later than the MT eggs. And they are bigger eggs.

Day 16 & so far 3 Coturnix have hatched & 1 more pipped. They get bonus points for hatching on hubs bday it’s kind of my new tradition to have hatches on the kids or now his birthdays
He also got 2 new brahma chicks this morning

I’m so excited for this hatch. This is only day 16!

Day 25 here, my lone duckling is working very hard on the internal pip. Everyone else is still looking good. Day 3 on the chicken eggs, will candle on Tuesday or Wednesday!

I’ve got a suspected broody she’s puffed up and ticking like a time bomb. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll be able to move her into the broody area tomorrow. If I can I’m planning on getting some eggs from a friend with colored egg layers on Tuesday. That would give me a hatch date of roughly April 26th.

Woke up to a total of 7 hatched so far. I moved 2 to the brooder last night, they were pecking other eggs they did really well & are up & running this morning
