APRIL FOOLS HATCH, give or take a day.....who's in ??

I thought you should wait to candle until at least day 7 or 8... what would you be able to see now?
Today is day 5 for me... should I take a look at a few? Very curious.
I am super new to this.... using a brinsea octagon... temp steady at 99.6/99.7
humidity fluctuating a bit between 42% and 46%
Anything I need to do?
I also have the ova scope that is from Brinsea as well.
Hoping for some chicks growing since I am doing this with my class of 2nd graders

to get accurate candeling results you should probably wait until day 7 but i could see veins today which is day six! your choice ! candeling wont ruin the egg so go for it!

Wait until day 7 or preferably ten to Candle and Toss eggs, but if you have a good flashlight and light colored eggs, you can usually start seeing veining at day 3, just don't toss any eggs at this stage, because sometimes you can't see growth until a week in.

During the test run, I found the back bedroom to be too drafty.

I placed them in the closet with a heat lamp to stabilize the temperature better.

also, I have since placed aluminum foil 1 ft. over the light to shield the ceiling from the heat. do not want to burn down closet...

hovering at 27-28 humidity, adding water with syringe and tubing as needed, temps at 100.5-101.5

let's get some more pics on this thread!

Did you Calibrate your Hygrometer, I have 4 of the ones you are using, and I have calibrated 2 of them, and they turned out to be 10% and 12% off, so if it said 30% the actual humidity was 40% or 42%. If you do a search you should find a calibration thread.

LOL!

holy snikey !!! Bet you could only fit 3 emu eggs in the incubator I have, hahaha.

okay, I'm failing at my humidity levels. it dropped again to 29%, but, I have quickly brought it back up. Am I going to completely cause these eggs to default, the sudden increase in humidity after being so low??
I tried the food coloring trick, but, doesn't seem to be working, as it always looks blue, even when it's dry, so I think my food coloring is extra strong.

I'm doing a small test hatch in my new homemade fridgibator before I get my expensive eggs at the end of next month. I've got three pure Marans eggs in - the hens are either from my splash or black hens with my blue copper roo. I've got three crosses in there as an experiment too - 2 BO/Blue Copper and 1 BR/Blue Copper. I'm really hoping the cross babies hatch as I'm super curious to see what they'll look like. I'd also love a little blue pullet

HaHa, I bought a GQF Cabinet Bator that is set up for Emu Eggs, So I can incubate quite a few, but at $15 each, I can't afford to fill it, lol.
