Quote: I am going to read those articles tonight! Too true most guides are documented up to hatching, then it's just "lockdown" and "hatch day". I know I will be attempting shipped eggs again in the future, there are a couple of breeds I'd like to add to the coop for variety and I haven't found them locally (in the state) yet. I have to be patient with how many I add each year, the girls spend a lot of time inside in the winter and I need to give them space. If they get here with aircells at all and not scrambled, there's a chance! (ALL of the eggs that didn't start when I tried the shipped eggs were scrambled.) We started our coop with 5 BO's...I can tell each one of them apart, but my husband and son can't since their leg tags fell off. Added an EE pullet last spring (was meant to be three, but got two roos). Now I want more variety! Helps me keep track of who is laying, and adding a couple each year keeps the egg quantity consistent.
I completely understand! When I was neck deep in helping those three chicks in the middle of the night I was making mental notes to cancel my plans if they progressed slower than they did!![]()
