This is a first... Usually I'd have one chick by now. I only saw one moving before lockdown. I guess I'll find out when I do eggtopsies on Tues. blegghhh

Day 20 here too...Got 10 sitting under a broody... She took a break yesterday and I candled a couple of the eggs, One looked like it should be hatched today but we shall see... If it doesn't I'm gonna start worrying,

Thanks! lucky you, I wish my broody sat often. she hatched some out Day 22 or 23 & she decides to go broody at the most inconvenient times; in the extreme heat or extreme cold. She's not a very good mom either. I lost 2 pullets while she was weaning & the only ones left were boys, so I gave them away.

When I candled them I noticed a lot of clear space. I opened up one that I thought quit around day 12 or something but it looked like a day 17 chick. If none of these hatch, I think it would be -ironically- lack of oxygen (because this was mentioned yesterday) or worse; disease :(

I candled my eggs, down to 17 out of 23 that went into lockdown, dreading the eggtopsy in a few...

EE #1, sry for the bad photo but snapped it just as it pushed out. This is a Blue Wheaton Americauna with my BLRW roo. I hatched many of these last year and seemed those were the most wanted when I was selling at a few swaps so figured I'd keep hatching them. I only sell at swaps because I'm addicted to incubating and I can't keep all the chicks. I tried to keep too many last year and was up to 250 total, I was literally crazy. I'm down to 38 without the new hatches right now. I'm working on breeding BLRW to sell chicks but first have to see how my stock turns out, I have Foley pullets and roos now so it should go well. And I absolutely love the SS, they have got to be my favorite breed as far as personality. My first hen is now 7 years old and wouldn't trade her for the world.

Did it. One died day 10, the others around day 14.
Now to double check the others. Ugh. I'm ready to pull the plug & just go out & buy some. Stuck here at home, on a nice day...

Well... All of them, dead. Looked back in my log to see what happened day 14, looks like I forgot to turn them so they were in one position for about 10 hours. One WAS moving day 17, not anymore. Not sure what happened. Just going to stick with broodies from now on.

Sorry about your losses .Gen. Always disappointing. I feltlike that also the other day but you wiill get some of whats left to hatch i bet

Had 2 good chicks and 4 assist...2 have bad feet one of those seemingly otherwise healthy died during the night.. the silky 2 bad feet seem weak still hanging in there. The pip for over 24 hours one looks good but isnt walking
