APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

It is just a normal sized egg, most of the double yolk eggs are normally very large, correct? I only question because I have not had a double yolk egg in as a normal size.

This is interesting, I will have to candle again in a few days to see if there are any changes.

Yes usually double tolled eggs are big.

I think it isn't going down without a fight, It was so cramped in that egg!! Gave it a few drops of sugar water and its sitting beside me loudly protesting the loss of its hatchmates!! DH gets off work at noon tomorrow, he says to give the little one at least til then and see what we see.. Hope it is doing better by then, if it could just straiten its neck, it can stand up if I support his little head.. DH just thinks he has a bad case of crick in the neck

Woke to find that my eggs had dropped to 97f overnight, I think at least one of my 11 eggs is developing. I might splash the cash and automatic brinsea or some other major brand incubator next month.

bummer well 97 is better then 67 so hopefully everything will be ok.

nark her eggs you set and remove the fresh/new ones daily. This is VERY important. The other hens are probably laying in her nest and she's all too happy to have more eggs. Silkies have chicken math problems.

Her eggs are all marked. :) Good thing, too, because she's still stealing every egg she can find. And I get lucky enough to get pecked at while I steal my eggs back, lolol. I wish there was a chicken math class that I could sign her up in!

I set on the 8th and mine will hatch the 29th.....soooo you set the 9th so yours will hatch the 30th.

our dates are so close!

my broody im hatching under is a splash silkie....and she still seems to be getting OE eggs in her nest! LOL

my first broody hatch failed when my hen almost killed 2 chicks. then I took all of them away from her. I heard silkies are MUCH nicer than BAs so hopefully more luck....this time I am going to separate my broody from my flock when these guys hatch....unlike my last attempt.

(the eggs my BA is sitting on in this photo my silkie above came out of!)

Lovely girls!! Why did your first broody almost kill her chicks?! That's awful. :( I'm glad I've got an experienced mother. She's raised chicks before, according to the person I bought her from.

29, your ostriches are SO cool! What do you raise them for? I heard they're mean... are they? ;)

I would totally send you over silkie eggs from my breeder! he charges 50 cents per egg. YES! 50 cents! that splash came from one, along with my sizzle partridge gal, and porcelain calico gal. I just love them! such great quality for so cheap! relly! im impressed with him! (my porcelain has a minor cross beak, but its all good.) (hatched on new years) my breeder doesn't ship...it relly stinks. here are some other birds I have gotten from those half dollar eggs: also; I got my 3 polish eggs my silkie is sitting on for $4.50. he charges $1.33 per polish egg.
What kind of Polish? I'm DYING to get a few. My BF wants Tolbunt or Gold Laced. We don't have a pen for then yet, but I'd have til Fall. Lol I also really want some splash silkies for my Sizzle project. Add more coloring. Mine are just black and just white. And my frizzle too is black. Lol A little boring.

Well here's the news going into lock-down tomorrow. I started with 17 eggs. 1 is clear- then there were 16. 3 marans that I can only discern an air cell and that's barely- so maybe all are clear or I just can't see thru that dark shell- all are from the same hen and roo so not sure. 3 Amerucanas- can't see at all thru the blue shell, not even air cell shadow- sigh.
Now for the wondermous news. 10 mixes all in light shells I can see movement- feet, beaks, swimming....so fabulous.
So far 10 confirmed good, 1 confirmed not and 6 ? marks. Not feeling bad, since everyone seems to have similar problems with those color eggs.
Only a few more days to see for sure....now where am I gonna put all those fuzzy butts?

Don't give up. My very CHEAP homemade incubator doesn't hold temp well and it has fallen to 97 two nights in a row. It actually got down to 95 one night. Good news is the eggs are doing fine. The chicks are still growing and I can see some of them moving in the shell.

What day of incubation are you in? They may still be fine and it's just too early to tell yet.
