I've got 4 Polish frizzle eggs that start lockdown tomorrow.........7 Buckeyes that will hopefully hatch next week........
I had started out with 20 Polish eggs, and two arrived cracked, and then only four developed....I blame rough handling through the post......But that's OK! The four will be special!
The buckeyes started with 12 eggs, two broken, and so I threw out three that weren't developed......
Think one chick's a Light Sussex, one a Brahma x, the third a Coucou de France. They're soaking up some sun in their brooder on the terrace: UV by day, IR by night.
My eggs are due to start hatching between the 15 and 16th. Just three days to go until the day!! I have 22 mixed breed eggs in there and at last candling ALL 22 were growing and jumping YAY
I also have 19 jumbo coturnix due to hatch then too. I had 30 shipped but only 19 were veining. Hoping those all hatch out safely so my other three coturnix will have some other mates.
So far 14 of 28 are hatched! The teacher in charge of the project said that 20/28 were developing normally at day 15, so a few more might be on the way.
All the peeps so far are black, some with white wingtips or tails, no sign thus far that my secondayr roo had any influence on the gene pool at all. Maybe some are just dark blue? We can hope!
