I am looking for some legitimate Aracauna breeders. I'm for sure looking for a roo.

I have an opportunity to buy a double tufted, rumpless female.

One question I have is if I breed a double tufted to either a single tufted or clean face what are the chances I will get double tufted?

Or should I take the risk and breed double tufted to double tufted?? Any and all information would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

With double tufted do you mean 2 copies for the tufted gene? Cause that is almost impossible. Both the rumpless and tufted genes are lethal genes. This means that 2 copies of the gene will almost certainly result in the chick dying before it hatches. This means that if you breed a rumpless tufted araucana to another tufted rumpless araucana around 50% will die (calculating is not my strong suit, so I might be off).

In case it is indeed a double tufted, which would make her incredibly special, and not taking rumpless into account as you didn't mention it:
- breeding her to a single tufted would result in 50% tufted chicks, 50% dead embryos.
- breeding her to a clean faced araucana would result in a 100% tufted chicks.

For ethical reasons always breed a tufted araucana to a clean faced one. This will normally results in 50% tufted and 50% clean faced chicks.
