I am thinking of crossing welsummer roosters over araucana hens having the silver gene to create Red sex linked olive eggers.Which ever ones people use, different breeders can use different base genes. Most people use silver base for lavender, and always for silver duckwing if bred properly. For better color I think most use silver base for blue and splashes as well.
Silver duckwing rumpless araucanas are available in Greece. The silver duckwing will be your best option for ensuring you have the silver gene in the araucana
Thanks!@Thomas Lamprogiorgos the president of the American Araucana Club is working on a columbian project. He had some culls available a few months back. For some reason I am thinking you are outside of the U.S. though.... if I'm wrong about that let me know and I will get you his contact information. He may have some he can ship you if you are in the states.
I should have moved to Greece! They are here...hard to find and if you do find them, their colors are a mess or they are clean faced. I had been looking to start with sdw for almost a year, gave up and settled on black mottled. I am grateful though, I got my birds from renowned araucana breeder and exhibitor Nancy Utterback so I know they are well bred. Good luck on your project Thomas!Silver duckwing rumpless araucanas are available in Greece.
Thanks.
