Are adult male muscovy ducks too dangerous to tame?

Well, this is an interesting thread . . . BigRedHenny, why exactly did you decide you might want to make a Muscovy drake a house duck? Of all the ducks in the world, a Muscovy drake seems like the worst choice possible. They are big, have big claws, bite hard, have poop like goose poop, and can be extremely violent during mating season. He can't be neutered. Maybe you might look at much smaller ducks, like having two little Call ducks instead. With two, they would have duck company, too, as ducks should. If you want ducks that perch, however, Muscovy ducks are your only choice, but at least be sensible enough to get a female.

Muscovy ducks do not make noise.

That's true. Female Call ducks are VERY loud. They used to use them as live decoys. Still, if you must keep a Muscovy inside, go with a female. A drake is a very bad idea.

Thank you. I agree a female Muscovy weighs around 6 pounds. A male Muscovy weights up to 15 pounds. I think a female Muscovy would be better as a pet because I can train her to perch on my arm or shoulder.

And you want to do this why? Just for some sick fun? Keep a bird away from its natural environment just for some selfies to go on Instagram?
