Are these two OEGB both cockerels or is one a pullet?

I hope so!

One is crowing and the other is not. The one that doesn't crow always behaved differently. She (he) has always been stand-offish and timid where the little cockerel is really friendly and jumps on my back when I bend over to collect eggs! But now that the first one is crowing, the two have started fighting! I've seens roos and hens fight before, so that could mean nothing at all. I guess I'll just wait and see!

Well I found out that they didn't come from a hatchery after all. They came from some local guy that was selling them with a bunch of silkies. He said that they were OEGB and wouldn't break up the group, so the lady that bought them all, kept the silkies and sold me the OE's for what she paid for them. So that really doesn't tell me much of anything about their breeding.

I'm starting to think that they may both be roosters now. I think I've heard the second one crowing, but have yet to see him (or her) crow. It could be the first one just crowing inconsistently since his voice is still cracking quite a bit! I'm still hoping I have one hen!

No they couldn't be dubbed, I got them as four week old chicks. They are still growing. They both have rose combs. The one that has been crowing, his comb and wattles are growing more since I took the photos. I just don't know if the other one is a rooster, but just a little behind in developement or if its a hen??

The two of them sleep in a nest box together every night, with the confirmed rooster in the front of the box, the other behind him nested down like a hen. They look like a couple! I'm hoping that they are a pair, but sometimes they fight and I think I hear the other one crowing?? I just don't know what is going on anymore!

I think that second one is a hen...see the rounded saddle feathers? the first has definately pointed saddle feathers, roo.

I think they are just 'fighting/playing/pecking order thing' going on. I saw two of my pullets raise hackles and square off with each other yesterday like two roos. what the heck?!?!

other things: mightttttt wanna break them of the habit of roosting in that nest box. I read somewhere that they need to roost higher than the nest box. Don't want them pooping there, for sure! ;-)
(just trying to be helpful! --- not bossy!)

Yeah, I was looking at her yesterday, and she certainly has round saddle feathers, she acts like a hen too. She's even got a higher-pitched voice, if that's possible!

I really hope she is a hen.

I figured that they would start roosting as they mature, but they haven't yet. I'm going to have to break them and a big Brahma hen of roosting in the nest box! These two have such tiny poops it hasn't been much of an issue, easy to clean. But that Brahma girl is making a BIG mess! I have to get her out of there for sure! I'm thinking of mounting a flap over the front of the nest boxes so I can close them off at night and then open it in the morning??
