Are you preparing for not-so-good-times ahead

I've looked into FAL rifles, and I can't seem to find one for under $900. With 7.62 NATO and .308 being as expensive as it is, the FAL, as much as I'd love one, is a little out of my price range. I share the concerns regarding the surplus market in Russian rounds, especially 7.62X54R and 5.45, since few U.S. companies manufacture it. We already can't import Russian or Chinese combat rifles or semi-auto shotguns (too bad, I'd love a Saiga 12), so it wouldn't be a shock if a certain president and 3 certain presidential candidates (yes, I include 3 of the 4 Republicans in my concerns) decided to block off Russian ammo imports. I'll say this - I definitely want to have a *very* large stash of ammo in sealed cans before Election Day. Call me paranoid, but gun and ammo prices are already going up again.

Hopefully, I'll have my MAK-90 by then, too. Any future "assault weapons ban," if one ever shows up, probably wouldn't deal with already-owned assault weapons. If it DID... that would not bode well for the poor souls who are sent to enforce it. Thus, I suspect any hypothetical "ban" would have no effect on those who already own the guns, not to mention Congress would be promptly reorganized in the off-year elections.

Personally, I want full-auto weapons to be legalized, without all the crazy licensing and limitations. If I'm not mistaken, all the full-auto weapons available legally are ludicrously expensive, because we're not allowed to buy recently-manufactured ones. I wanna get my hands on a PKM.

Those things look like so much fun. It's like an AK-47 on steroids forged in the fires of Mordor, except chambered in 7.62X54R! Or, if you prefer, a Mosin-Nagant that fires SIX HUNDRED ROUNDS PER MINUTE.

I would never have guessed you would think this way based on your avatar.

It sounds like another campaign to sell guns and ammunition, just like before the last presidential election. President Barack Obama has made no effort to ban guns. At least that I know of.

Call me an American, but I prefer a good Winchester Model 70 or Remington Model 700.

I bought an SKS a number of years ago. I think it was around $120 at the time. I had to take it all apart and clean out all the grease it was packed with to protect it. Then I learned that Norinco, which distributes that particular rifle, funds the Chinese army.

So I like brands like Remington, which also sells under the Marlin name; Browning, which also sells guns under the Winchester name; Ruger; Savage; Smith & Wesson, etc.

I will only buy American guns in the future.

I'm not sure who handled the import of my last batch of SKSs. They came through Century in a buy 3 for $210.00 apiece, which was and still is a good price. There are a lot of extras that can be put on them, that's for sure and attention needs to be paid to 922R compliance. I keep mine in original condition because they were purchased on the C&R license and are part of my collection. I figured that if things got rough and I had family or friends show up looking to be taken it, then I needed to have some extra general use firearms around. Even though I have many ARs in differing configurations, the SKS is a rock solid, flip the safety off, pull the trigger, hear the bang firearm. About as reliable as a semi auto can be.

If we could ever get the repeal of the illegally attached Hughes Amendment to the FPA of 86, then you'd see the price of full automatics drop to reasonable levels. The public outcry would be so great because the MSM would be selling the issue to John Q. Public as to how easy it would be for criminals to get machine guns to lay waste to puppies and kindergarten classes. If you're into NFA items then you know that it isn't a simple process. It'd be nice if the NFA processing branch could streamline their process where someone who is already in the NFA could flag their application as such and the examiner would pull the file to compare all information. If it matches then perform a quick FBI check like they do now and approve the form. They could cut down the approval process from months to weeks if not less.
