We try to plant fruit trees when adding to our yard. Aside from oranges and lemons, we currently have an Anna apple (2nd yr planted/1st year fruit) and 2 nectarines which really don't produce (not enough chill hours but they're pretty so we keep them). We've had a Santa Rosa plum which did well every other year and so-so the off years. Just had to yank it because it was in the way of the only space I had left for a coop/run. Besides trees, we also have a Wonderful pomegranate, Brazos blackberries, a boysenberry, and grapes.

Peaches, apricots, and figs are all grown in the valley too. There are low chill cherries: Royal Lee and Mini Royal.

The U of A Cooperative Extension service has a great bulletin.

I did that when mine were chicks too ... then we moved the heat lamp out to the coop so they could stay there 24/7 ... we did put a board up so they had an enclosed area on three sides where the heat lamp was. I think even though they are 3 months old, they would still sleep under the heat lamp if it was there instead of on the perch. Have you given any of your chicks weeds yet? Mine love them!!! They also love the grass clippings from when DH mows the yard - we don't spray for anything so it's okay.

this person refrigerates the eggs they were cold
when i went to my friends house to incubate them
they were cold that was 2 hours later so she
refrigerate the eggs

I have heard of a number of people who refrigerate hatching eggs without issue. I would guess, though that the temperature of the refrigerator could make a big difference.

I keep mine in a red wine fridge. Keeps great temp. If they don't sell, scrambled eggs for the chickens.

We have finally finished Our coops!!! Woohoo!! & now it still seems like We need more!! 5 coops 3 rabbit pens 3 brooders. So much easier to take care of the Flock!!

My wife laughed at me cause I won't let anyone eat the 1st egg laid yet. I just like seeing it in the fridge when I go get something out of there. My SLW roo that I hatched from the eggs you gave me the first time to test my bater is really taking care of business with the ladies in that pen. So may even get some good hatching eggs from that pen.
