I had basically a constant migraine for about 6 years, my whole pregnancy and then until my son was 5. I was using so much imitrex that I would run out before I could get more because of my insurance. Going on birth control helped mine some, because my period would trigger them and they would last almost the whole month, then start all over. I take a birth control pill where you take it for three months, then have a period, to lessen that problem. But, I was still having them about 15 to 20 days a month. Anyway, my problem (which had been tested for many times
) ended up being my thyroid. I was low normal, and my regular doctor wouldn't treat it. Finally I went to a naturopath, and he started me on synthroid, and amazing thing my migraines went almost completely away. The first year on it I only had about 3 that were difficult to manage. Until mine that started a few weeks ago, it's been a year since I've had a bad one. Oh, I go to an endocrine doctor now, and they agreed I need it. I guess even though my TSH was in the normal range, I wasn't converting t3 to t4 enough. Anyway, you might want to look into it. If the naturopath wasn't so expensive, I would still go to him. He was the only one who would listen and try to find the answer instead of just covering it up with migraine meds.
You know, mine ended last year when my naturopath tested my Thyroid uptake and got me some locally made natural thyroid medicine too. He's the best. He's helped DD and I SO much. Some Naturopaths will look as sub-clinical findings, not just straight numbers. He'd be worth the drive.
