I had basically a constant migraine for about 6 years, my whole pregnancy and then until my son was 5. I was using so much imitrex that I would run out before I could get more because of my insurance. Going on birth control helped mine some, because my period would trigger them and they would last almost the whole month, then start all over. I take a birth control pill where you take it for three months, then have a period, to lessen that problem. But, I was still having them about 15 to 20 days a month. Anyway, my problem (which had been tested for many times

) ended up being my thyroid. I was low normal, and my regular doctor wouldn't treat it. Finally I went to a naturopath, and he started me on synthroid, and amazing thing my migraines went almost completely away. The first year on it I only had about 3 that were difficult to manage. Until mine that started a few weeks ago, it's been a year since I've had a bad one. Oh, I go to an endocrine doctor now, and they agreed I need it. I guess even though my TSH was in the normal range, I wasn't converting t3 to t4 enough. Anyway, you might want to look into it. If the naturopath wasn't so expensive, I would still go to him. He was the only one who would listen and try to find the answer instead of just covering it up with migraine meds.

You know, mine ended last year when my naturopath tested my Thyroid uptake and got me some locally made natural thyroid medicine too. He's the best. He's helped DD and I SO much. Some Naturopaths will look as sub-clinical findings, not just straight numbers. He'd be worth the drive.

oh my gosh, who told you that i was taking topamax? was it laree?

yes, i have been stupid for about 3 years now and can't talk due to the constant slurring. my parents think i am anorexic, i've lost a ton of weight since it makes you forget to eat. i can't make a decision to save my life, it's absolutely nuts. i also take a betablocker. i went on the magic carpet last christmas at castles and coasters with the twins and when i got off my blood pressure bottomed out and i passed out on the ground when i got off. it was firefighter day and when i came to i was surrounded! i thought they were going to jump start me.

i will ask about that thyroid test. thanks. i have had migraines since the age of 14. i think i'm 37 now.

LOL nobody told me, I think they put everyone on topamax now days. It was so embarrassing, my son had a bday right after I started it, and I couldn't even introduce my own relatives to my husband's family because I couldn't get their names to come out of my mouth!!! It really hurts your self confidence when you are used to having a mind like a steel trap, and it turns into a leaky sponge! I am so glad to be off of it, I waited until I hadn't had a migraine for 6 months to stop it and it is wonderful not to have to take it. Does it make you a little crazy too? When I took it, it totally reminded me of being post partum. Stupid stuff would upset me way out of proportion, just like after you have a baby. If my DH didn't tell me he loved me before he left for work, I would be sure he didn't love me any more on the emotional side of my brain, the logical side told the emotional side to stop being stupid, and I KNEW it was the topamax making me feel that way, but I couldn't stop it. I had to go on an antidepressant while I took it, to stop the dumb thoughts it made me have. My mom's BF went on it, and called me a few weeks later asking me if it makes you crazy, I was like, yep! It's not that it makes you "depressed" but just makes weird thoughts / emotions pop up that you would never have without it. Does it make soda taste terrible for you? I would drink soda and I couldn't tell you what I was drinking - it all tasted the same (root beer, sprite, coke, pepsi - all exactly the same - ick!). I would have my DH taste test to be sure it was really what I ordered, don't know why it made a difference tho since they all were the same - LOL! I don't know why I even still drank it?!? After about 3 years of taking the Topamax, soda went back to tasting normal - weird.

Mine started when I was about 23, but they were really mild, only once every year or so, and not that bad. All of the women on my mom's side have them. They didn't get bad until I got pregnant when I was 36. I didn't think I would ever get to where I only had a few a year. The last one was from super high stress day at work (pissy surgeon, and later a kid that wasn't doing well, is fine and at home now tho), and it had been about 6 months without one before that. I'm still a little migrainy from the last one ... it's gone, but if I get overstimulated I feel buzzy in my head like it's going to come back. So being very careful to stay low key for a few weeks!

I really hope you find your answer to at least make them better - I wouldn't wish them on anyone!

Oh, how horrid and frustrating

I am so impressed by all of you women dealing with this issue. Beyond the debilitating pain, I can't imagine the frustration in not being able to get help to make it stop, taking meds that make your life rotten in other ways, AND they still come back. Hugs to you all!

Nah, you are 25! But seriously I am sooo sorry for you! I can take a lot of pain anywhere on the body but on the head. Headaches are the worst form of torture on the planet. (And dentist induced are the second worst, sorry Mahonri

Oooooo. That's so nasty. I hate migraines, but not as much as DH hates for me to have them.

Turkeys...I wonder if DH would go for that. Can they run the yard or do they need a pen?

I know a breeder who let one of his (named John) roam. The breeder used to be the state fair poultry supervisor, and he always brought John to the fair. They made John a nice large pen, but he spent a lot of time roaming the aisles and attracting a HUGE amount of interest. Sadly, he passed away at a ripe old age.

A neighbor used to have a turkey named Jim Beam (guess what kind he was

); they did not have a separate pen for him.
