Arizona Chickens

OH, I am glad to read that. Yes I agree with you completely. I see way to much of talking on the phone and texting. Mostly kids but I saw an elderly lady that was probably to old to drive doing this! I could only shutter!

Kota, I am sorry about your accident and hope you will feel better soon. I sure wouldn't mention you were texting while driving to any insurance or you may hurt your case.

I had no transmission, I had been setting there on the shoulder of the road about 3 hrs, going no place. I could drift back words, not advisable. I was waiting for AAA road tow. I do not text and drive, I only answer the phone when I am driving if my sister or nephew call. They get very angry at me when I do not answer.

HI!
I just posted on craigslist for the new hatch from 1/09/13 in case any of you have an interest. There are Blue Wh./Wheaten Ameraucanas, Olive Eggers and Easter Eggers from Calif and Montana BYC'ers breeder eggs. You can certainly PM me instead of going through craigslist if desired.

Spent about 3 hours cleaning out the coop and the two grow out pens. I was so happy to take a shower after that.

I've really got to start figuring out which of the polish are roos and which are pullets. I can tell that at least 6 of the 14 are roos, jury is out on the rest. Of my Icelandics, I know for certain that two are roos. A white one and a black one with mottling on the breast. Jury is still out on the others.
I have one pullet that is a Phylis clone and the other is an Ida look alike, only with a crest.

Ida has abandoned her brood and is laying again already. I'll bet she goes broody again shortly!
Blucy is doing a great job with her brood of three (one of the blue Ameraucanas died)

Also my Icelandic hen "Goldie" is going to pass, her comb turned light and she went down hill from there. All of the others in the big coop look just fine. I guess I need to worm and re-dust for the next two weeks.

#4 & #5 are camping in the COLD mountains tonight with their scout groups. The house almost seems empty with just #6 & #7.

Weather today was GORGEOUS! Highs are forecast at 77 degrees for the next five days. A welcome change from the extreme cold of last week. Iv'e got to get my winter garden planted tomorrow. I'll be putting in seeds of peppers, beans, peas, corn, cucumbers and squash.

Have a great Saturday my friends!!!

I've got to figure when I can do a chick exchange with Pam out in Queen Creek.
Sorry to hear about Goldie. What do you use as your worming procedure? Have fun in the garden...I'm working on mine today, too! Kota; glad to hear you're ok. What a mess.

notinoz: The boys are really excited, especially Thomas and Alex. They've both wanted a little sister for a long time, and Thomas has been disappointed twice, and Alex once, so they're both really happy they are getting a sister at last.

I've had a really busy day already, I went to Market on the Move and then to the Valley Permaculture Alliance's tree pick up, to get the fruit trees (an apricot and a plum) and the pomegranate bushes that were my husband's Christmas present. Right now, I'm getting Michael down for a nap, while Rob is in the back yard, working on my Christmas present. I got him the plants, and now he's giving me holes in the ground :D

They EMTS tamed me into going to the hospital. I had no idea that they were going to immobilize me. It was SOP, they had to do that. Boy I really hope I will never need to be strapped in like that because I am really hurt. The tail is my dog. He was like Velcro.

Whew... Cleaned the 2 hen houses and runs, tilled the garden, trained a couple clients at nugget hunting, and I am pooped. Let 35 pullets out into the property for the first time today and what a hoot to watch. They were not sure what to do at first which is normal, but always entertaining. The runs are huge so not that big a deal as letting them out into the run for the first time.....

Still have to collect eggs, but think I deserve a beer first.....

So i just thought i would share my afternoon laugh with you all.
I have two brand new baby serama chicks. They were snuggling around my neck in my hair while we watched a movie and i yawned and one of then hoped right inside my mouth! Went straight for my throat! I nearly choked on the little guy! Now every chance he gets he tries to peck his way back in! What a weird little bug lol
