I'm fighting the urge to get Marans chicks. My year olds just moved in with the big girls so the grow out coop is empty! I already have too many chickens, though.
My leghorns' combs turn purple with humidity too.
Sorry I missed the party. My dear sweet uncle died yesterday and I didn't feel like socializing.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. There will be other party's, as for family there is only 1 of each.
I have Marans, and more coming, lockdown starts tomorrow. I hope to have more peeps, Black Copper, Blue, and Splash, anyone's guess, how many and which.
Right now I have 2 blues, 1 black, 1 lemon cuckoo........... And Sylvia.
-----------------------
I washed the feathers this afternoon. Put them in a pillowcase, secured the opening and washed them, and tumble dry. They are like popcorn. H
It will take a long time but I have started the sorting. Removing left and right handed feathers, tail feathers, and throwing away broken feathers. Later, when I get clear small baggies I will start putting together fly fishing feathers, and craft feathers, a lot of them will make wonderful Moon Rakers, edging, and what not. As in the apron edging. I also started the proses of drying the other feathers. That will be a little harder to do up. Thank you so very much, I will be ready for a long winter night, endless days of no sun,

snowed in for weeks on end....

Oh! That's right I do not live in the frozen north, or in the middle of isolated mountains.. . I am in a desert!
