Arizona Chickens

You think you will only be getting 2? They are so fun 2 becomes 4,6......
Keep us posted on what you decide.. What do you mean when you say she lays a weird egg??

Lol. We were just joking about the goat I have right now. See him in the pics being used as a taxi? The post says I have 2 Roos that I need to exchange for 2 Pullets.

Good Morning I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to share more pics of my flock. mostly my baby ducks and their new 45 sq ft home but a few chicken pics too. I am addicted and I love taking pics of them all.

This is my new duck run

Mr Roo lives here now too because he and Blue fought too much and the hens and both Roo's need to regrow some feathers.

Hope you all enjoy my pics. I love showing off my birds. :)

I'm behind on the weekend posts, will probably catch up throughout the day...

So...I bought pvc for the feeder I'm building. I thought pvc was supposed to be inexpensive and NO, IT'S NOT. holy carp. I guess it's cheap if one is using leftover parts from a new build. Again, I should have expected this, as it is in keeping with the most expensive chickens in Tucson. For whatever reason, I dragged my husband along and he convinced me that the cheaper drainage pvc wouldn't work, so I bought the schedule 40 stuff, and the pieces were expensive in the 3 and 4" size. Ridic. I managed to substitute cheaper pieces here and there, but overall, spent too much money. But, it means I can leave the meat chickens for a few days and not worry about them...and the bulky hanging feeder can be removed and give them some more room. The hanging feeder in there now--was built for only $5--I can do some things right!

Got all the pieces together for the water cups. I'll put it together sometime this week.

I'm going out of town for a few days in 2 weeks--there's a rush to get all of this stuff together. Working on my garden irrigation too, which is stressing me out. I have the line extending too far (I need 2-3 separate zones, but only have one to work with for now). I think it will be enough to keep the garden alive for a few days without me overseeing it, but won't work for later in the summer when I'll be gone for a couple of weeks.

You should check Craigslist. There was someone here in Tucson selling a whole box of PVC pipe fittings for inexpensive. The cheap stuff works just fine for any animal feeder. I have made many goat salt and baking soda feeders from the cheap PVC pipe. Hope fully you can get it all worked out soon. I know how you feel I have been trying to get my garden planted and I am so worried it will not live since I am getting it in so late. ugh. Hopefully it will. Where in Tucson are you?

NIce picts, a little chicken! I wish I had more space for more chickens!
Thanks. I will be adding 3 new coops as I have decided to separate some breeds (my crested and my NN and my soon to be new group of Aloha chickens) The silkies will get to stay in the brooder pen and hopefully I will get a couple that want to go broody, so far no dice. I do not want to get an incubator. we shall see. I am thinking of mixing a NN with my crested just for fun. Like I need more chickens. My goat will be here next week. and then I have a pet pot bellied pig that is coming in june and hopefully I get the breeding meat pigs by fall. I love having a farm to provide fresh food for my family.

wow so I have been building the duck run and planting. I got the new dust bath done in the large coop and added some tree branches for something new for my chickens. I am so sore, but it is all worth it. The ducklings have a 45 sq ft run to play in. They have not even walked the whole area yet. My garden is another 42 sq ft section. I have cervical spinal stenosis and deteriorating joint disease so I can only do things in stages. Thank God for my amazing husband and my youngest son who like to help with the farm. :) I only have 3 more coops to build and get the goat pen back in shape for my new goats and then pigs by fall....so much to do. Oh and my apple tree has apples on it. I was so excited to see that. I did not expect apples for another year.

I wanted to share pics....

Your apple tree is beautiful! What variety is it?
