I'm behind on the weekend posts, will probably catch up throughout the day...
So...I bought pvc for the feeder I'm building. I thought pvc was supposed to be inexpensive and NO, IT'S NOT. holy carp. I guess it's cheap if one is using leftover parts from a new build. Again, I should have expected this, as it is in keeping with the most expensive chickens in Tucson. For whatever reason, I dragged my husband along and he convinced me that the cheaper drainage pvc wouldn't work, so I bought the schedule 40 stuff, and the pieces were expensive in the 3 and 4" size. Ridic. I managed to substitute cheaper pieces here and there, but overall, spent too much money. But, it means I can leave the meat chickens for a few days and not worry about them...and the bulky hanging feeder can be removed and give them some more room. The hanging feeder in there now--was built for only $5--I can do some things right!
Got all the pieces together for the water cups. I'll put it together sometime this week.
I'm going out of town for a few days in 2 weeks--there's a rush to get all of this stuff together. Working on my garden irrigation too, which is stressing me out. I have the line extending too far (I need 2-3 separate zones, but only have one to work with for now). I think it will be enough to keep the garden alive for a few days without me overseeing it, but won't work for later in the summer when I'll be gone for a couple of weeks.
