Arizona Chickens

@Jadesun6 - is the momma a EE bantam? I have some given to me bantams that I don't know what they are so am continuing to try to see what breed they might be. Not doing well and I figure they are around 4 weeks old. That is a sweet momma and daughter pic.[/QUOTE]
Nope, she is a Dutch bantam I think. The only good picture I have is a when she was younger.

I do have two EE bantams though. They are about 3 months in these pictures. The light
grey EE is one of my favorites.

So the 3 blue chicks that were in the maran bin I still think they might not be Marans. Do all Marans have a single comb? I haven't seen anything other then a single comb in information I looked up. What do you think? Excuse the pop. As soon as I set them down all three had to go!

Whatever they are I adore them!

There are blue Maran's, but I thought that all Maran's have those feathered legs.

What I have read is they can come in both clean and feathered leg varieties. I just haven't seen anything about them having different combs.

Maybe you could ask where they got the chick shipment from? Then you could go to that hatcheries site and figure out what they are? They sort of have grayish colored eyes?

If your feed store gets them from Privett, they also sell Blue Wyandottes, which I believe do have combs like that...
Lets see if I can post a pdf...

Any free takers on two HUGE RIR roos? One has been a real jerk humping on all the pullets. Some of them scream while others remain quiet about the matter. I've called the Humane Society several times and went through menu after menu after menu and left several voice mails and even emailed them.

Apparently, they've been in a move last week to their new facility and haven't heard a word from them. They are beautiful birds, vaccinated, over-fed. I'm kinda scared of them with those big beaks and feet, but I do crow back at the dominant(?) one and go in there and run them around a bit, to show them who rules this roost. The hens, for the most part, know I'm not after them, and carry on business as usual, feeding and scratching around.

No more red chickens for me. Some on other threads have labeled them demonic.

Those hens do make some strange little sounds...I just can't describe it accurately. Some sounds like a chirping Turkey call and others are like some long drawn out shrill, very soft.

The roosters have that long drawn-out mature cawing sound, and more vocal, and one BA and Austra-White are also showing the same behavior. Those two characters have larger combs and wattles, but no noticeable difference in feathering, and hoping not to end up with two more roos.

All of these chicks are absolutely beautiful, especially the Barred Rocks, Black Australorps and Austra Whites. The remaining RIR hen is okay, but she's a bit of a meanie, too. I don't appreciate my hand getting attacked while I'm delivering their feeder or watterer. I end up slapping a few of them up beside the head. THE FEEDER/WATTER, DUMMIES, NOT ME!
