Arizona Chickens

I bought some feed from scratch and peck and they don’t like it.

My older ones are eating the country companion layer and I got the babies purina start and grow.

Hatched February 1st. All my roos are getting pretty rambunctious, and I already have one pullet that I think may be laying. I caught her the other day climbing into a nest, and found a smaller pullet sized egg in it at the end of the day. Four months old is pretty darn early for that, but not unheard of.

Well, I have seen my 3 NN's pullets starting to get curious about the nesting box lately, and seen one of them standing in it the other day (the White one that has a few black feathers), but no new pullet egg from them yet. I'm only getting 2 eggs right now, one from my Splash Australorp girl and the only pullet egg that I have been finding is a blue one from the CCLB's.

I had to go look DeathLayer chickens up. They are quite pretty but I would worry about how they did in the heat since they are from Germany - much cooler country that our little part of the world. There is not enough information out there for me.

Someone in Scottsdale has some hatching eggs for them on cl. if you have $80 for 6 hatching eggs, you could put them under your broody to see.

Those DeathLayers cost way too much for my blood. I think that they would be for someone who has lots of money that doesn't want to be bothered with buying new flocks every couple of years or so. But you can get breeds way cheaper than those, and as long as you keep a rooster you won't have to buy anymore and just hatch out your own replacements.
