Those DeathLayers cost way too much for my blood. I think that they would be for someone who has lots of money that doesn't want to be bothered with buying new flocks every couple of years or so. But you can get breeds way cheaper than those, and as long as you keep a rooster you won't have to buy anymore and just hatch out your own replacements.
Why buy new flocks when you can hatch your own? Just line breed what you have. Hatch for pullets one year, and cockerels the next.
 
I was out by the coop today and noticed some ants carrying some of the crumble feed and seemed to be headed in a line someplace else, so I followed them to locate the ant hill. Some of them even were biting me on my ankles. I found 2 ant hills, so took care of them. I figured if they were going to bite me, then they would bite the chickens, too.
